Fox News poll: Obama's lead grows as Romney's support slips
FOX News ^ | August 9, 2012 | By Dana Blanton

Mitt Romney has had a tough couple of weeks on the campaign trail -- and it shows in the latest Fox News poll. After a barrage of campaign ads, negative news coverage of his overseas trip and ongoing talk about his tax returns, Romney’s favorable rating and standing in the trial ballot have declined. As a result, President Obama has opened his biggest lead since Romney became the presumptive Republican nominee.

The president would take 49 percent of the vote compared to Romney's 40 percent in a head-to-head matchup if the election were held today, the poll found. Last month, Obama had a four percentage-point edge of 45 percent to 41 percent. This marks the second time this year the president has had a lead outside the poll’s margin of sampling error.

Obama’s advantage comes largely from increased support among independents, who now pick him over Romney by 11 percentage points. Some 30 percent of independents are undecided. Last month, Obama had a four-point edge among independents, while Romney had the advantage from April through early June.

There was also an uptick in support for Obama among women, blacks and Democrats.

No. You did not raise an idiot. Your daughter, just like my youngest, has been indoctrinated by liberal media and educational institutions. It will take some years and a lot of patience on our part to bring them back into the light.

There is no question that the degenerate conniving blueblood country clubbers at the RNC are so grossly incompetent that they might have actually muscled in as the nominee the one guy who could actually lose to the communist foreigner in the WH.

Romney sucks as a candidate, and alienates an ever growing number of Republicans and independents each day.

Every time he opens his mouth he exposes himself as a phony.

He expects to win this election by hiding and using attack ads, well the communists are masters at that game, and will crucify and make him look like the hypocrite coward con man that he is.

Ideally the Indonesian national wins reelection and is then exposed as ineligible and forced to step down.

All legislation he signed would be ruled invalid, and the POTUS would be the imbecile Biden for a few years, leaving the door open for a decent candidate in 2016.

somehow this eliminates the GOP elite

You can be sure if nobama pull off re-election there will be no more GOPe or GOP or Tea Party, we will be outlawed.

Now tell us again that Romney is the “worst Presidential candidate in the history of America”. He may not be who you wanted or I wanted, but he damn sure is not the worst, we now have the worst.

I just find it hard to believe in the America I see every day, that vast numbers of people are saying “Yeah, Obama, I got to have more of that!”

That is definitely *not* happening. The problem is that Romney possesses a vast number of the same qualities found in Obama that repulse us. When he stands on the battle field calling out "To me, To me!" our gut check response is either "Why?" or "Hell no". After 2008 the GOP should, *should*, have been smart enough not to push for him after he came up a distant 3rd to the RINO McCain. They were not. In your tale of two Americas, Romney and Obama are standing inside the same city limits trying to keep we the people outside the walls.

There is nobody to vote FOR. Many will pull the lever for the Massachusetts liberal to try to stop the Chicago Marxist thug. Either way the nation loses. Frankly, the country is already doomed. Parasites, socialist program supporters and massive deficits are now the norm.

You forgot the ‘perhaps America wants a bit less Marxist in their liberal’ factor.

Dems were oversampled AND it is among registered voters, not likely voters.

Looks like we are in the Sky is Falling crowd.

Until after the convention, any polls will lean to incumbent. Once that mark is past we will see things begin to turn. We should not expect the MSM, even Faux, to try sampling perfection, they all are shite-stirrers and spin-doctors. Remember Carter’s polling right before Regan kicked his butt.

Romney’s promises are worthless. They are nothing. It really doesn’t matter what either of the candidates say, because once they are elected, they can do pretty much whatever they want, like McCain. Once elected, these guys are virtually untouchable.

It’s ridiculous to think conservatives can hold a President Romney’s feet to the fire in any way after the election. Romney and his ilk are what they are regardless. The man is a slimy moderate, and he’s not a young man. He’s set in his squishy RINO ways. That’s why primaries are so important.

If by some chance Romney actually manages to get elected and governs even remotely as a conservative, I would consider it an amazing surprise. I would be thinking along the lines of, “Amazing how Romney hid his conservatism so well for so long!”

Obama, unfortunately, is a compelling orator who has a gift for speaking style over substance

LOL, he's a moron. But he is a black moron promising to give other peoples moeny to the 50% of Americans who pay no federal taxes. So he gets their vote in the polls. Luckily, not all the gimmee guys and girls vote or conservatives would never win a national election and that's the damn truth. Forget the crap about if only we had a hard right conservative as our nominee he would be smashing Obama in the polls. The truth of the matter is that America has crossed the Rubicon and the slide into European socialism and thus bankruptcy and eventually riots in the streets is assured.

Romney can and may win this race but it won't change anything because there are no politicians with the balls to tell the takers that the taking days are over. I hate to be the bearer of ill tidings but the numbers don't lie. Half of Americans don't pay for the services they get. And they like it that way.

You have never had anything to do with a successful political campaign.

You seem to see politics as a way to “Play Peter at the Gate”

It is not our job, in politics, to save souls.

It is our job to get souls who agree with us to the polls.

Your efforts are very helpful to Obama.

Romney is, head and shoulders, a better person and a better citizen than Obama.

You have chosen Obama.

You are wrong.
There is no court which will reverse ANYTHING Obama signed, even if Obama is removed as ineligible.

The law does not work that way.
