No, he wasn't. Those Jakarta schools are still there; they're public schools, not the privately-run, Saudi-financed madrassas that have been the proper focus of so much obloquy because of their intimate links to Salafism and terror.

Madrassas are just Islamic schools, they are not all Saudi-funded or Salafist. Public schools in Indonesia are in fact madrassas.
