“Yes, but we’re not talking about legislatures and judges. When the people have the right to vote on the issue of gay marriage, they vote AGAINST it.”
Not talking about opinion polling, it is slanted for a number of reasons on this issue.
The average the amendments passed by is around 67%—it wasn’t even an issue 20 years ago. If you told someone in 1982 that in 2012 only 61% of the voters in NC thought marriage is between a man and a woman they would have thought you were wacked. The amendments trend, while having a great track record (only failing once in Arizona and later passing a couple of years later), is not as positive as many seem to think it is, in my opinion.

Four states are voting on marriage in November. Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and the state of Washington.
These are all more socially liberal, “blue”, states, so we’ll see if the homosexual agenda has gained ground there.
The recent Chick Fill A uproar can only hurt the homosexual agenda, because that uproar showed just how malicious and mean spirited and ugly these people are. It showed that they don’t care who they destroy as long as they get their way. So much for them having any respect for being in a representative republic.
And, where is there respect that they live in a republic in which life is better for homosexuals and other assorted oddballs than ever before? There is so much anger that they can’t get a marriage license, but no apparent recognition that they are free to live their lives as never before.
And no recognition that homosexuals are treated very differently in most of the world, which should make them stop and count their blessings at some point, even if they remain pissed off that they can’t get a marriage license to marry a same sex partner.
O’Malley and friends will do what they have to do to force this abomination on the state, regardless of the referedum outcome. They plan to use it as part of his 2016 presidential campaign.
Oh I can see that now, “O’Malley 2016, vote the Lobster/Fudgepacking Ticket!”
Despite all the Baltimore Sun's hard work promoting gay marriage, the people just aren't buying it. And they aren't buying the Baltimore Sun any more, either.
His policies are a disgusting smear of slime. Even gives Irish Democrats a bad name.
ROFLOL!!
Freedom didn't stop the New England puritans from persecuting other religions in their states.
Freedom didn't stop the North from plundering the South and keeping it down for a century after the Civil War.
Freedom and the U.S troops' liberation of the death camps in Europe didn't stop secular Jews from trying to remove Christianity from the public square.
Freedom hasn't stopped muslims from trying to impose sharia in America.
Freedom is a fragile, fragile thing always one generation away from extinction, like Christianity. The so-called "right wing" in this country slept through the cultural revolution. Now, we are a hair's breadth from extinction.
“There is so much anger that they cant get a marriage license, but no apparent recognition that they are free to live their lives as never before.”
It’s all about using the state to punish those that don’t buy into their nonsense. Once they get the piece of paper saying the state thinks they are married then there are all sorts of ways to stick it to folks who don’t dig it.

Every time.
Legislators want the MSM on their side - or at least not against them so they vote in a way that doesn't knock down a wasp's nest... Please address what I'm saying, Ransomed...
Anywhere, any state, any time gay marriage is put on a ballot for people to vote on it will lose.
People are bullied into pretending they're for it because they're afraid of repercussions from liberal elite bullies. That's why polls don't reflect the truth of how people feel. They're afraid of liberal bullies.
If you think about it Dems would be better off removing the voter referendum from the state constitution since they have a monopoly. Opponents being able to split off issues from the Democats in elections can only work against them.
O Malley also signed a bill making the states POTUS electors go to the popular vote count winner, but here's the scam, it only takes effect if enough states, blue states, do the same.
If the law went into effect immediately it could only help minority Republicans if anything since Maryland will always go for the Democrat.
Please, don't give them any more ideas... LOL
Newspapers are paying a high price for aligning themselves with one group. Sad there aren't enough liberal elites in the country to keep a general circulation newspaper afloat...in Baltimore or anywhere. Editors have such puffed up delusions...
It's the death of an industry by stupidity and ego... For all that loss - the loss of respect, readers and trust, they're still not going to get gay marriage. Must suck to be them.

Truly, leftism boggles the mind. Great post, LOL!!
In the end...the courts will do the dirty work.
“Anywhere, any state, any time gay marriage is put on a ballot for people to vote on it will lose.”
They do have a great track record. Not sure they always will. It lost in Arizona in 2006. They then passed it two years later.
If one looks at when they passed, how much they passed by, and if they passed in a more liberal or conservative state, the trend isn’t too positive in my opinion. I don’t think it is too positive that Hawaii (69% in ‘98) beat North Carolina (61% in ‘12). States like La. is thankfully a loooong way away from any remote danger of it’s amendment being repealed. But the states that only passed them in the 50% ranges? I think it is very possible they could be repealed at some point.

“When gay marriage is put to a vote by the people, it fails.
Every time.”
Call me a Cassandra if you wish, but I think that mantra is about to be shattered in the 2012 elections.
With Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, and the state of Washington voting in November, I expect at least one of them to “tip” to the “gay marriage side” this time. I’m thinking that Maryland may be the one, or perhaps Washington state, perhaps both.
If I’m proven wrong, I’ll be wearing a big grin, because I -want- to be wrong on this one.
But I see what’s coming down the line...
Thanks sickoflibs.
