I LIKE it! I’ll be using my Beowulf .50cal w/ .335gr rounds. Won’t be much left after a true “centermass”.

Since this terrorist plot was a restaurant off base, Obama is going to have a hard time claiming it was simply workplace related violence.

UPDATED: AWOL soldier who planned bomb attack gets two life sentences

By TOMMY WITHERSPOON

twitherspoon@wacotrib.com

Friday August 10, 2012
An AWOL soldier convicted in a failed plot to blow up a restaurant filled with Fort Hood soldiers was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison today.

Naser Jason Abdo U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith Jr. gave Naser Jason Abdo, a 22-year-old Garland native, the maximum sentence, plus a total of 80 years on four other charges.

A federal court jury in Waco convicted Abdo in May of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder of U.S. officers or employees and four counts of possession a weapon in furtherance of a federal crime of violence.

Abdo represented himself at the sentencing hearing after Smith approved his request to dismiss his attorneys in July because he said they were having trouble communicating.

Prosecutors said Abdo went AWOL from Fort Campbell, Ky., traveled to Killeen and had begun building a bomb in a motel there when he was arrested in July 2011.

Authorities found numerous bomb-making materials, a loaded gun, ammunition and other items in his backpack and motel room.

Abdo, a Muslim, has said he planned an attack in the Fort Hood area “because I don’t appreciate what my unit did in Afghanistan.”

Wearing a mesh mask to prevent him from repeating episodes where he spit blood on guards, Abdo complained that he could not organize his notes before giving a sometimes rambling explanation for why he fled the Army in Kentucky and ended up in Killeen last July.

Saying he didn't get as far as Nidal Hasan, the conscientious objector said he wouldn't ask the court for mercy because Allah is the one who gives mercy.

Hasan, the Army psychiatrist, faces 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the Nov. 5, 2009, attack at Fort Hood, in what is considered the worst mass shooting at a U.S. military installation.

Abdo said he thinks the Army trumped up child pornography charges against him to try to derail his request for conscientious objector status. The frustrating experience and the pending criminal charges forced him on a "jihad," he said.

After sentencing, federal, state and local officials praised the team effort that thwarted Abdo, possibly preventing the loss of many lives, they said.

"This prosecution demonstrates two important points," said U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman, of San Antonio. "First, the prevention of tragic events such as Mr. Abdo was planning can be averted by alert citizens who pass along their concerns to law enforcement officials and by law enforcement officers who diligently perform their duties.

"And second, that those who use or plan violence to further their twisted agendas will be prosecuted as aggressively as the law allows and will, as in this case, spend the rest of their lives staring at the walls of a prison cell," Pitman said.

PFC Nasser Abdo, who was granted conscientious objector status last month, only to be brought up on charges last week — two days after being informed of the secretary of the Army’s decision — after child pornography was found on his government-issued computer.

U.S. Army soldier, PFC Nasser Abdo, with the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell who refused to deploy to Afghanistan claiming that Islamic law prevented him from killing other Muslims — vindicates Fort Hood killer Major Nidal Hasan. He made identical claims and threatened that “adverse events” would occur if military officials didn’t accede to shariah principles.

Abdo, 21, allegedly told law enforcement he wanted to “get even” and was targeting Ft. Hood because of the previous attack there, according to law enforcement documents obtained by ABC News. The documents say he did not plan to attack the base itself, but instead planned to plant two bombs at a nearby restaurant popular with Ft. Hood personnel.

He hoped to detonate both at the target location before using a pistol to shoot survivors, according to the documents. Abdo had gone AWOL over the July 4 weekend from Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division in Kentucky over 800 miles away.

When he was arrested, Abdo was in possession of large quantities of ammunition, weapons and what appeared to be the makings of a bomb, according to early accounts from law enforcement. He had also apparently purchased an Army uniform with Fort Hood patches from a local surplus store.

Abdo, reportedly of Palestinian descent, was raised by his Muslim father and non-denominational Christian mother in Texas. In 2010 he told ABC News he was Muslim and should not have to participate in what he called an “unjust war” in the Middle East.

"The young serviceman convicted of plotting a massacre of his fellow soldiers near Fort Hood in Texas received dual consecutive life sentences today."

Now, we're getting somewhere.

"God Bless Texas."

That’s a threat against military. Give him another life sentence.

paradisw, “No mention of Islamic terrorism being the motivator.”

Abdo was arrested July 27, 2011, at a motel outside Fort Hood after a gun store clerk in nearby Killeen, Texas, called police to alert them that Abdo had been acting suspiciously.

“This case was discovered before any tragedy happened due to the vigilance of citizens,”
