Romney Pivots, Embraces Romneycare Again

"At the top of my list of programs we don't need is one that costs $100 billion a year I'm going to get rid of and that's Obamacare," he said to cheers at a rally.

But then, a telling pivot: "By the way, that doesn't mean that health care is perfect. We've got to do reforms in health care and I have some experience doing that, as you know. And I know how to make a better setting than the one we have in health care."

Scott Brown was elected because even the citizens of liberal Massachusetts realized Romneycare was a failure and didn't want something similar, Obamacare, passed into law nationally.

That's a pretty stupid way for the people of Massachusetts to show they oppose public health care. Are they really that silly? Shouldn't they first revoke public health care in their own state?

We won’t know what Romney’s politics are for sure until we see him in office, unless of course, one wants to do the evidently out dated thing, and look at his Governor’s term.

That was subtle, and funny, for all us out-dated types.

Big surprise. I find it hard to believe all the Romneybots on this site. Yeah, I’ve heard it all - ABO, the country will be destroyed in 4 years, etc. etc. I heard the same old arguments in ‘08 and that worked out so well for us, didn’t it? I’m supporting Virgil Goode - go to his web site and read his platform. Sounds like Free Republic used to be. If we don’t send a message to the Republican Party this time, just WHEN will we do it? I heard the same old arguments in ‘08 and that worked out so well for us, didn’t it.

Kind of like passing a bill to see what's in it......no thanks.

Mitt Romney is a carbon copy of his Taxachussetess twin John F'n Kerry. Both ride both sides of the fence. Both support the pro-abort and socialist leftist agenda. Except I don't think Kerry has magic underpants, but I believe he's been to Vietnam.

Oh yeah, and Romney spells (D) with an (R).

unless of course, one wants to do the evidently out dated thing, and look at his Governor’s term.

Bingo.

The two most likely candidates from which one will be sworn in, in January 2013, are both left of center politicians. I am convinced Romney is less left than Barry the bastard commie, and further convinced that Romney is going to pass conservative bills when they get to his desk because he has a deep interest in building an America First legacy as the first LDS inc President. To completely ignore that or try to blow it off with more axelrod talking points is a nasty game currently raging at FR. ,,, And sadly, there are longtime, true conservative Freepers more than willing to aid that turnout suppressoring tactic.

Actually, YOU DO pay for RomneyCARE, which
Mr. RomneyCARE set up to compensate for his
vulture corporatism in BAIN.

YOU PAY no matter what state you are in.

Just like the Olympics which Mr. RomneyCARE “fixed”.
That means, YOU PAID.

“Any chance we have of fully and permanently repealing ObamaCare ends with Romney’s election.”

I don’t like Romney and I have not planned to vote for him. However, when I read a position such as yours, that I agree with, I still have to ask myself, how it would be better to let Obama continue.

I can’t stand Romney, but I hate Obama’s guts....

More and more, I do not think that I will be able to not vote against Obama. If I trusted the Republicans, and I certainly don’t, I would hope that impeachment proceedings would start the very day that Obama wins the election, BUT those balls-less cowards will not lift a finger.... so we would be stuck with 4 more years of hell from that dictator POS.

Now, if that GOP-e RINO Romney would at least.... Never mind, I made myself sick.

These dark times suck.

Do you know how much money they leach off the federal government to pay for their failure of a healthcare system?

No problem, if you want to sit this one out it's your call. Some of us see Obama too big of a threat to sit on our hands. It really is that simple.

My focus is 100% on doing everything in my power to get the Marxist thrown from the WH. I don't give two sh&ts if it means voting for Romney, he has nothing to do with it in my mind. Obama’s had 4 years to destroy MY country and if he is being evaluated on accomplishing that goal, unfortunately he's done well.

Once Obama & Co. is gone, my focus will turn to Romney. Until then, the country is on fire and all of my focus remains on extinguishing it.

While I agree with your assessment of the situation (we the voters don’t want EITHER “plan”), what are you proposing we DO about it? pontificating about the problem, without offering solutions is a bit pointless.

As a matter of fact Massachusetts is a net payer of income taxes. It sends to DC more than it receives.

That means you are okay with a little socialized medicine as long as it is not a lot of socialized medicine. This plays right into liberal hands. Now that you've conceded that point to them, the next step is to decide what constitutes "a little" and what is "a lot". This is the slippery slope to our decline. Is there anything wrong with repealing ObamaCare in its entirety, not replacing it, and letting the states legislate for themselves as they desire? No? How about we go that route instead?

I feel your pain, mojito. That's how I felt in 2008. McCain made a brilliant pick for VP with Palin. I felt my mind more at ease and I pulled the lever for him. And now, three years later, McCain led the RINO charge in the Senate to ratify the Sea Treaty and erode our nation's nautical sovereignty. In retrospect, I would not have voted for him, even with Palin at his side, knowing he'd drive Senate Republican's to damage our nation's defense by using his position to help ratify this treaty. Romeney is not going to have that opportunity to disappoint me so. I drew the line in 2008.

What you don’t get is that he thinks he’s going to build that “legacy” by being exactly like Obama - but a white Mormon instead of a half-black Muslim.

He’s not a Marxist because he has succeeded under this system, but not the way most of us did. Most of us are not investment bankers with super-wealthy daddies. They can succeed under any system because they’re necessary even in a socialist country.

But Mormonism is a theocratic religion, and he’s just as much a statist as Obama, without the populist rhetoric. After all he bought the nomination fair and square with his own fortune (and probably big bucks from the very wealthy Mormon church) so he doesn’t need to go there.
