Carl Cameron saying VP announced in morning at 9 am. He is saying it sounds like Paul Ryan
I definitely like Ryan better than Rubio, McDonnell, Pawlenty...and Portman, whoever he is. Christie is the best possible Republican to be New Jersey governor, but it’s very unclear how on-message he would be on the national stage.
I’ve seen Ryan on TV give compelling, intelligent, reasonable and persuasive arguments for conservative positions. That’s more than I can say for most of the picks Romney’s been considering. Ryan seems like a true believer and not a political hack or career politician. He’s not a fire-breathing attack dog, but he doesn’t seem too shy about sticking the knife in Obama on matters of substance.
Another problem with Ryan is that Romney is doubling down on fiscal/economic issues. He’s not balancing himself out with someone who has national security or social conservative credibility. My preferred dark horse was Jon Kyl, to lend elder statesman credibility and what I believe are strong conservative credentials. Another drawback to Ryan is that he appears quite young, even younger than he is. So that could give the impression to some people that he’s inexperienced. Not that that hurt Obama.
Another problem could be having two guys who like to play the “nice guy” card on the ticket. That may not be the most effective way to deal with the Democrats’ venom. We already see Romney falling into the trap of trying to act “nice” towards Obama or rise above the fray. But when someone viciously attacks you with lies, and you just smile and say they’re being silly, it doesn’t make you seem authentic. Normal people know they would be angry and want to strike back if someone spread lies and rumors about them. So they question your credibility if you don’t have a similar reaction when you’re claiming the same thing is happening to you.
Can you imagine a debate between Biden and Ryan on economics? It would be a massacre!

agree, the left will have a field day with this and being here in the state of FL will not pick no interest up at all.
The media will love this pick, they ripped him apart last time when he said about cuts here.
It tells me that if this is true then the GOP take social issues and the south for a joke thinking we have no where to go.
Already I’ve spoken to three republicans here who work for the party and all have said this is not good.
I hope I am wrong but it seems Romney is too chicken to pick a beltway (R). Ryan would wipe the floor with plugs biden.
McDonnell makes sense because Romney needs VA and he is not Congressional GOP.
We agree. I think Ryan is brilliant and should be named to an important economic post in the Romney administration. But for the campaign he's a Dudley Do Right poodle when what we really need is Lee Atwater reincarnated as a rottweiler or a pit bull.
Campaign Carl on FNC now discussing this .. says no one has confirmation of Ryan or anyone. Carl’s definitely focusing on Ryan .. says the buzz about him has gotten more pronounced recently.

I wonder why he is choosing a Saturday to announce. I think some time after the Olympics would be a better time. Plus why not at the convention? This guy is just going through the motions.

The media will mock ANY Republican who is Romney’s VP..the media works for Obama, they will do his bidding no matter who Romney picks. If the American people are going to be zombies and listen to whatever the media says we have no chance anyway

If it’s Ryan, that means the 2012 Election “Subject Matter” will be a lot more focused on the economy and Barry’s record almost 24/7 until Nov 6th, which will be great.

The VP debate means nothing and you have to look at this from a more moderate position as it is not conservatives which decide this and you can bet the media have a lot to go on down here in FL and Romney needs this state and trust me right now no way with ryan.

They want to give the Obama campaign extra time to demagogue Ryan as wanting to eliminate Medicare and murder grandma, so the Romney camp can complain to the Washington Post and CNN about how unfair it all is, while Ryan's disapproval numbers hit 60%.
I thought so, too, AFTER the Olympics, but I sense
their sense of urgency has been altered by this
week’s viciousness in the ads, and now they’ll both
be on the 4 day long bus tour.
Just earlier tonight, Carl C said they got word
the announcement would come after the Olympics and
after the bus tour .. so, next Tues or Wed, so I
think something did change in their tactics.
