Millionaire VP pick: Paul Ryan rich from investments, inheritance
The Los Angeles Times ^ | August 12, 2012 | By Michael Finnegan

With business investments and a family inheritance, Rep. Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin and his wife have accumulated millions of dollars in assets and generated income last year well above his congressional salary, according to his most recent financial disclosure statement.

Mitt Romney’s newly announced running mate reported assets in the range of $2 million to $7.7 million. The largest was the interest that his wife, Janna, holds in a trust resulting from the 2010 death of her mother, Prudence Little. Her interest in the trust falls in the range of $1 million to $5 million, Ryan reported.

Ryan also reported investment income that, along with a distribution from the inheritance, supplemented his $174,000 congressional salary – somewhere between $168,000 and $1.2 million.

Members of Congress disclose their income and assets in ranges rather than precise amounts.

doesn’t CA and the north east have the most millionaires etc?

Doesn;t the left get most of their money from these people and this area?

Yet again the Dems are trying different attack talking points to see what works the most and then they will stick with that.

Hey obama has millions, where did he get that much from when he’s never had a high paying job?

It’s odd how most everyone in American politics are wealthy...If not wealthy going in, most come out millionaires after jumping from position to position in government.

Public servants....lol

Politicians are more corrupt now than in the past. Technology and transparency provides a means to minimize it.

Every Congressman, Senator and President and their senior staff, as part of a requirement to serve America honestly, should be required to provide an annual detailed and web based public disclosure of all of their current income and net worth, and where their assets are held. Any multiple or single transaction in a month involving more than $5K needs to be reported immediately and made available along with an annual report on line. And no lobbying, direct or indirect, for 5 years.

Failure to comply to this should result in expulsion from office and 5 years in prison. And we need to reward and encourage whistle blowing by insiders.

The MSM seems to ignore BO’s schedule E on the WH site. Seems that he is getting interest from a trust from his grandmother. Also has funds offshore which be lists as “various” or in “various” countries. Is Various in the East or West hemisphere? You or I would have to list the accounts and countries. Guess IRS rules are different for this party!

I WANT a millionaire to be in a leadership position!!! Look at that STUPID JOE BIDEN......all he has is his HOUSE or HOUSES (but I think it’s just a beach house)......Nice but doesn’t involve ANY THINKING!!! Good thing he’ll have his LIFETIME PENSION AND HEALTH CARE, or he’d be in DEEP DOO DOO.

What an impressive list of activities in High School — plus letterman and class president. I guess he just didn’t have time to participate in the local Choom Gang.

Proud to say that my congressman is one of the poor boys in Washington. He was one of those the democrats cried about because he was sleeping in his office.

I believe we will find that BO was a millionaire from the age of ten, when his great grandfather died and his grandmother, the head of the trust department in HI bank, became his legal guardian. Hint. G-Grand pap was not “just a bookkeeper” any more than his other G-grand pap was a goat herder. “Agents” regularly made one tenth of one percent on the mineral right deals they put together on the future production of the gas wells they packaged together.

Assets accumulated during their “public service” (and I say that tongue in cheek) need to be fully disclosed and monitored and tracked and available on line. If they are not willing to disclose it then they need to find another job.

There is something very wrong when people spend billions for a 6 digit job. Typically they all get enormously rich on backs of taxpayers at the behest of cronies. We need to know every minute aspect of their wealth accumulation while screwing us...ooops meant serving us. They all need a spotlight, a lie detector test and closely monitored while they are there.

Does anyone remember the Slimes running an article detailing Biden's monetary worth when Zero selected him back in '08?

I don't either. The Slimes and the Dems: class warfare at work.

They should be audited and monitored every single year by independent panels. In fact all their calls outside of nation security issues should be recorded. No more closed door meetings for anyone outside national security type issues. Those who spend over 10 years in Government should be forced out. Period.

The reckless government mismanagement, spending and corruption is staggering at all levels.

If not stopped, they will lay this country to waste.

Those even suspect of the slightest improprieties, conflicts of interest, etc at all levels, and certainly in places like CA, NY, Chicago and D.C. should go before on-going independent Nuremberg style hearing and trials.
