Obama's Campaign One Of The Dirtiest In Modern Times
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 08/10/2012 | Bernard Goldberg

If you've been paying attention to Barack Obama's campaign for re-election you may have noticed a recurring theme. While he hits the campaign trail, flashing his million-dollar smile and waving to the adoring crowds, his political hit men are engaged in one of the dirtiest campaigns in recent American history — a campaign where decency is no virtue and moral atrocities are no vice. Not if they help Barack Obama win re-election.

Goldberg does a good job of summarising the foulness of the Obama campaign thus far. Though there is nothing new here it does raise the question: if Obama & Co are going this dirty this early, what can we look forward to over the next 3 months?

Yes, but Obama is not to blame! Who is then? BUSH.

Actually, I think that being called a "negative campaigner" doesn't hurt much, being a negative is not a negative, people understand that that is politics, and politics is not beanbag. ON THE OTHER HANDS, if one's negativity becomes an enduring overriding theme, that you are virtually inhuman as a campaigner, it could have a slight negative effect. Just slight. So the key thing is that Romney should not whine about the nature of the game, and that Romney should fully abandon his goody-two-shoes puritanical "I'm better than everyone else" reluctance to engage in the serious type of negative campaigning required to win.

We are seeing Obama’s Stalinist values come out in the campaign, and we can see that he is not alone. This is but a microcosmic prelude to what Obama’s Stalinist have in store for us. It isn’t mere Chicago thuggery.

"Obama will do anything to get reelected."

And, he will do anything once he is (God forbid)reelected.

Obama can’t run on his abysmal record.

He knows it and his sheep know it.

His “hope and change” mantra has proven to be a lie.

All he has is the dirty attacks.

He will use them early and often.

It is hard to criticize Romney just yet, because he won the primaries pretty handily.

I hope he has something up his sleeve. because if you have run for president for such a long-time, it would be pretty pathetic to chuck it all in the last 3 months and surrender.

Dirty, yes. But I’d say they’re so far off the mark with their attacks that they’re doing more damage to their credibility than they are to Romney. I’d say if they were going to go this dirty they should have left it to much later in the campaign where there would be less time to evaluate and discuss whether the allegations were true. I’m certain that there will be much late-breaking Mitt-eats-live-kittens type news, but any they’ve destroyed any chance that such a campaign would have any effect.

Mitt should suggest a lemonade summit.

The sad thing is, dirty campaigning works, and it works on both sides. I don’t know how to change it. I know it doesn’t work for me because I look things up and check things out. I can read at better than a 3rd grade level. I can analyze data and come to rational conclusions. I learned analytical thinking at a young age.

Without these skills, and the 3 second soundbites telling us all we need to know... dirty campaigning works.

I have some friends who also happen to be liberals. I would think these people to be intelligent, but yet they now keeping repeating the ungliness and the lies. Sad commentary.

> Obama’s Campaign One Of The Dirtiest...

And if it gets him elected then it will say a lot about what attracts the majority of voters.

One of the dirtiest in modern history? Can anyone here remember one more nasty then this one? I sure can’t and I voted in 1960.

Some people say Johnson's campaign against Goldwater in 1964. Nixon in 1972 certainly had a lot of illegal tricks going on, but his actual campaign ads weren't anywhere near as bad as this years.

Sometimes, there's one scandalous ad that gets everybody talking, but the rest of the campaign is relatively clean and above board. Or else the primary race is dirtier than the actual two-party election. This year the mud just isn't going to stop getting slung.

The dirtiest campaigns in American history were probably 1928, 1884, 1828, and 1800.
