ANNAPOLIS The Senate voted Friday to approve a gambling expansion bill, sending the legislation to the House where floor debate is expected to begin Monday.
The Senate voted 28-14 in favor of the bill, which would legalize table games at the states slots casinos and allow a new casino to be built in Prince Georges County, pending approval in a November referendum.

Oh man, I must be tired. From the title, I thought MD had approved betting on pit bulls.
The article makes much more sense and in keeping with their ideology.

I visited my old high school in Friendly, Prince Georges county, and I won't go back unless I'm armed. Some problems with breed specific legislation (BSL): Exactly what is a "pit bull"? You say--well, I know one when I see one:
Does it include American Staffordshire terriers, which look almost exactly like American Pit Bull Terriers? In fact the United Kennel Club allows an AKC registered American Staffordshire terrier to be listed with the UKC as an American Pit Bull Terrier. What about (English) Staffordshire Terriers? Or Bull Terriers? American Bulldogs? (And there are about four different types of American Bulldogs.) How about (pit) bulldog mixes? The most common breed of dog waiting to die in animal shelters is the pit bull mix. Another problem: the owners this legislation is aimed at are probably judgment-proof, have no homeowner's insurance, or both. Maryland. They still executed people for third offense blasphemy until the late 19th century. And they have a odd-looking flag. I'm sure some MD lawyers will find a way to wrap this law around an axle while others will jack insurance rates even higher while Marylanders ignore it. BSL: let's pass a law.

Does that photo scream, “I’m gonna rip your lungs out, Jack ....” or what? Brrrrr
Wish I hadn’t seen it right before lights out. The pit bull problem is a tough nut.
Post something light and funny, would you? Sorry all.

There is no pit bull problem. They are the dog of the day for both fighting and guard dogs and the victim of choice by a really uninformed (read that as morons) media and elected officials that have no clue. Next time,, it’ll be something else like a Ridgeback or something else.
Back in the 80’s, the dog under the microscope was the German Shepherd. I have three of those evil, nasty dogs. Yep, they’re real threats too... NOT.
Sad thing is, there are dogs out there that would destroy a pit bull in an instant. Look at dogs like the King Shepherd or the Caucasian Orvchaka. A pit doesn’t stand a chance against dogs like that. Yet, the pit bull has gotten a very bad rap for idiots like Michael Vick who use them for fighting, and people buying them for pets and having them trained aggressively.
Breed specific laws are no better than Jim Crow laws. They are fundamentally the same and exist on ignorance.

And they have a odd-looking flag. The flag antedates this nonsense by a few centuries, and contains elements of the coats of arms of the Carrol and Calvert families. (Charles Carrol of Carrolton was a signer of the Declaration of Independence).
Either would be rototilling the earth above their graves if they knew what was being done to their State.

I was going to get either a Caucasian Orvchaka or an Anatolian Shepherd/Kangal because they seem like good dogs for deterring thieves and pit bulls but we just don’t have enough property for either breed so we got a Doberman instead. I figure he’ll deter the thieves just fine and I pack a .357 for deterring pits. I’d still like to get a Caucasian Shepherd someday though. They’re incredible beasts.

Long, long ago, I lived on 28th Avenue, right behind the area mall. Went to grade school at Sandy Mount Elementary and junior high school at Benjamin Stoddart Jr. High School.
Three years ago I went to meet a government sponsor at an installation next to the US Census Bureau. I mentioned that I lived near there once. He asked where and I told him. He cautioned me strongly to not even drive by it, even in broad daylight. The house is still there as I’ve seen on Google Maps - that’s as close as I’ve gotten.

“The Senate also voted 41-1 on Friday to approve a bill that would make dog owners liable from the first time their dog attacks another person, replacing the current law that only makes them liable if the animal has shown previous aggressive behavior.
The legislation was crafted in response to an April Court of Appeals ruling that classified pit bulls as inherently dangerous, making their owners and landlords liable for an attack even if the dog has no prior incidents.”
Another victory for the Maggot Lawyer/Judicial Industrial Complex. More asinine legislation enacted by the Courts and ratified by the attorneys who sit in the legislature to screw Americans out of more money and their freedoms.
And I don't particularly like pit bulls. But I hate attorneys even more.

Back in the 70s, it was Dobermans.
In the 90s it was Rottweilers.
MD; the state where the mob is welcome and pit bulls aren’t.
Great.

I'm sure I need not mention that MD is simultaneously pushing thru a measure, in the gambling bill, that would assure govt expansion and greater control over their lives; and another in the breed specific bill that does just that.
