Will Ryan Help Obama Win Jewish Votes?
Jewish World Review ^ | Aug 13, 2012 | Jonathan Tobin

Posted on 08/13/2012 5:02:39 AM PDT by expat1000

After Mitt Romney announced his choice for vice president, the consensus among Democrats is all they have to do to win in November is to mention one word: Medicare.

....First, those Jewish voters who are most vulnerable to Mediscare tactics were already going to vote for Obama. If you are the sort of person who truly believes the Republicans are going to throw Bubbe over the cliff, you probably were never sufficiently concerned about Obama's pressure on Israel and unwillingness to confront Iran to cross over to the GOP. The minority of American Jews who consider Israel's security to be a major influence on their votes are not going to be so easily bulldozed by the Mediscare routine. Voters who believe the president will sell out Israel are not the most receptive audience for a Democratic campaign based on the idea that Romney and Ryan will sell out the elderly.

So, basically, older jewish voters are only in it for themselves and don’t care about the good of the country or of Israel? Sounds about right.

I Heard Doug Schoen, a Democrat big wig, say that in all of their polling and talking to old people, they ONLY care abour their OWN financial well being.....not their kids or their grandkids.

Democrats are trying to set the stage for death panels to kill off old people. The dem you quoted is doing just that... Would you be equally awed if he had said, "college students ONLY care about their OWN financial well being.....not their grandmothers or their grandfathers".

Let's leave class warfare and generational hatred to the Democrats - they specialize in pitting groups against each other..

I guess this didn't fit into your pre-conceived ideas therefore you ignored it:

And there is another possibility that nobody on the left is prepared to even consider: a lot of those Jewish grandmothers and grandfathers who care about Israel may just decide they like Ryan a lot more than Obama.

Notwithstanding that, there is the old adage (I'm paraphrasing) that the young are concerned about universal values, middle-aged about families, and the old about themselves. I think there is a lot of truth to that regardless of religion.

85% of Jews would vote for Hitler if he had a D next to his name and he was for abortion.

Pray for America

Not all Jews are smart or politically aware. There's a lot of groupthink going on.

OMG... so we’re talking about literally DOZENS who may shift their vote to Obama, among a demographic whose support for the dems is in the high 70% range.

Cue the Huge Manatee.

I don't understand why Jewish Americans are so blind in their voting patterns when it comes to supporting Democratic politicians.

Blacks and Hispanics I can understand to a point, they are concerned primarily about the almighty handout.

Democrats are likely to be anti Semitic and are likely to stab Israel in the back while at the same time supporting the interests of Islamic despots around the globe.

The Obama administration has proven itself to be a huge supporter of Palestinian causes and has treated Netinyahu with disdain.

I hope my Jewish friends open their eyes soon!!!

...that’s how it’s been so far. No reason for them to change now.

When I go out to buy things - small, large, or huge - you can be sure I always pre-plan to frequent businesses that are owned or managed by any of these 3 groups that voted as follows for Obama:

98%
78%
66%

Read “Ethnic America” by Thomas Sowell. It explains a lot. I don’t think the Jewish Vote will ever suddenly go Republican. But I think what will happen, and IS happening, is a gradual peeling away of more and more Jewish voters, particularly religious Jews and Orthodox Jews.

Right now, those Jews to whom Jewishness is a cultural heritage rather than a faith based belief, will remain in the Democrat camp.

Schumer, Launtenberg, Wasserman-Schultz, Fienstien, Boxer, Levin, Specter, Liberman, Sanders, Frank off the top of my head, but I know I am leaving off a few.

Oh yeah, but then we have Cantor .....

“So, basically, older jewish voters are only in it for themselves...”

If it was just that, it wouldn’t be so bad, as they would vote Republican quite a bit, due to the money angle. But they don’t seem to be in it for anyone...not even themselves.
