7 Things to Expect If Obama Is Elected to a Second Term

"This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility." -- Barack Obama

So far, the message of the Obama campaign essentially seems to be, "I'm unable to effectively govern because Republicans won't do everything I want. Re-elect me so I can deliver more of the same. Oh, also Paul Ryan wants to push old people off a cliff while Mitt Romney will give you cancer." That doesn't tell you much about what Obama would try to do in his second term, but given that he appears to be largely indifferent to the law and the wishes of the American people, there's no reason to be hopeful. Furthermore, given how deferential the Supreme Court has been to Obama and the fact that the GOP would undoubtedly be more willing to go along to get along if it’s defeated this year, the damage Obama could do in a second term would be incalculable.

1) America's credit rating slides further: Under Barack Obama's leadership, America lost its AAA credit rating for the first time since 1917. That means our country is now more of a gamble to loan money to than Microsoft. Given that Barack Obama has shown zero inclination to get spending under control or seriously tackle entitlement reform, our rating would be practically guaranteed to drop at least another notch. In other words, this country would soon have the same S&P rating as Qatar and the Czech Republic.

2) The middle class will see massive tax increases: Congress has been at an impasse because Republicans want to cut spending and Democrats want to raise taxes. Despite all the talk you hear about the "Buffet Rule," it would produce a comparatively small amount of actual revenue because the rich are close to tapped out. The real money is in the middle class. If we're not going to cut our escalating spending, then taxes on the middle class will have to soar like an eagle fired out of a cannon.

3) Gas and energy prices will be dramatically higher: Obama once said, "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." His Energy Secretary Steven Chu added, "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe." Is it any wonder that Obama won't drill ANWR, has blocked the Keystone Pipeline, and has slow-walked offshore drilling? Obama views sky high energy prices as a feature, not a bug and if he doesn't have to face the voters again, expect to see energy prices lift off like the manned space shuttles Obama permanently grounded.

4) Obamacare goes into effect: If the GOP controls the House, the Senate, and the White House, it should be able to gut Obamacare and keep it from ever going into effect. On the other hand if Obama is reelected, there's a better chance of the NAACP endorsing Mitt Romney than there is that health care reform will ever be repealed.

5) The Supreme Court moves to the left: Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 79, Antonin Scalia is 76, Anthony Kennedy is 75, and Stephen Breyer is 73. Replacing Ginsburg or Breyer with 50 year old liberals would be bad enough, but imagine Obama selecting a replacement for Scalia or Kennedy. If that happens, Obama would have five guaranteed votes on the Supreme Court for anything he wants to do. Once we get to that point, the Constitution might as well not even exist.

6) Get ready for open borders: Barack Obama has already bypassed Congress to implement the DREAM ACT by fiat, he's planning to break the law to hand out work permits to illegal aliens, he's openly proclaimed that ICE won't pick up many of the illegals detained by Arizona, and illegals are now being released by the border patrol sans proof if they claim they went to high school here. We're very close to having an open border policy right now for any illegal alien who hasn't committed a felony here and in an Obama second term, it's fair to assume that the primary qualification for citizenship would be the ability to sneak into the country.

7) Gun control will be a priority: Barack Obama filled out a "questionnaire in which he called for banning 'the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns'" and he let everyone know what he thought about gun owners even before he was elected with his notorious "bitter clingers" quip. His campaign website doesn't even have a section addressing 2nd Amendment issues, perhaps because Obama would have to admit that he's already calling for a reinstatement of the Assault Weapons Ban. Without an election to keep him in check, expect Barack Obama to "evolve" on gun control the same way he did on gay marriage.

This is why our dear liar has the nickname: President Downgrade.

He tried spending us into oblivion, he was the cause of the Downgrade and hence the best name for him.

This should have the SDABRZ (Spittle Drooling Anybody But Romney Zealots) jumping for joy.

They’re actually looking forward to this type of state-of-affairs. The sooner America fails, the sooner they can jump in and start their Taliban-like regime. The SDABRZ’s can’t wait to start lopping off the heads of the unholy disbelievers.

The House knows what is happening. What you are ignoring is that they are terrified of the MSM. Back in 1994, after the Repubicans took over the House and the Senate, they tried to implement real change, and the MSM simply crucified them. They know they cannot get things through the Senate. No budget has been passed since Obama took office, directly in conflict with the Constitution, but there is no one to enforce the Constitution when the Senate and President do not care to.

I recall in ‘95, wondering why the Republicans would not fight back... then seeing a terrific speech by Newt that could have been a game changer, had most of the country seen it. I saw it on C-Span, virtually no significant amount of people saw it, and the the MSM simply refused to allow the Republicans to get their message out.

The MSM is the Gorilla in the room that many ignore. We can only get out of this mess if the new media has enough power to provide cover for Conservatives and get their message out. It is happening, see the new likely Senator Cruz from Texas. He would not have had a chance even four years ago.

I have been asking the question that if he is reelected for a second term and he does not achieve his purpose will he make an EO so he can run for a third term or perhaps for life?

They will come up with an argument and then fall in line with it. They wont be able to get an amendment, so it will have to be something else. For example, with one more lib on the court, a cat could be declared a dog. Such a court could also proclaim the “will” of the people trumps the literal words in a democracy. They might say that he’s not supposed to run again, but there is no remedy, as they have done with birther suits. It wont take much to justify it to the left, since they have no respect for law to begin with.

1) America's credit rating slides further

This is unavoidable; in fact given the definitions of credit ratings the country would be a C [IIRC].

2) The middle class will see massive tax increases

This is unavoidable unless there is an actual cut in spending; given that budgets [spending] is controlled in Congress the President is of minimal importance on this issue.

3) Gas and energy prices will be dramatically higher

These can be influenced by the president; however, they can also independently be barred by the various bureaucratic agencies that are our government.

4) Obamacare goes into effect

It was signed into law; the President cannot directly repeal the law. Also, the idea of using executive orders to issue out waivers is an affront to what little State sovereignty remains -- for it forces the states to acknowledge authorities not delegated, but wielded by the federal government, particularly the office of President.

5) The Supreme Court moves to the left

This is unavoidable if one presupposes that only Obama or Romney will win the election, because both have a recodt of appointing left-leaning judges.

6) Get ready for open borders

This is not new; it was prevalent under G. W. Bush and likely under Clinton and Bush Sr. (I'm fairly young and didn't get interested in politics at all until late.)

7) Gun control will be a priority

This is likely not avoidable. The reason is because far too many people have accepted the idea of "reasonable" gun control.
For example, gauge your own reaction to this statement: Guns should not be restricted from courthouses.
Any trepidation or concern you feel toward that statement is a direct result of [societal] programming. In real jurisprudence you would be forced to recognize that there are people who are forced to be there, who have committed no crime, and who hold the most power in the courtroom are the ones being disarmed: the jurors. Yet the USSC has ruled, multiple times, that the police have no obligation to ensure the safty of any particular private citizen; therefore any no-weapon policy imposed upon the juror is directly an assault on his ability of self-defense.

In short, Obama being re-elected has minimal impact to all seven of these issues.

Ah, the protest vote. They tell us that Romney is just the same as obama so they are going to vote for some pure conservative they met at the grocery store who never ever disagrees with them. They'll show those darn Republican leaders! Maybe next election they'll give us a REAL conservative.

One problem though is that casting a Romney vote signals to the GOP that they do not need anything approaching "Conservative" in order to win. Indeed at this point the election of someone implementing "Conservative" ideals would be making so many changes that there would be little he would actually be conserving.

IF BHO is reelected, then by 2016:
1. Obama will be First Citizen, de facto Emperor.

Maybe, maybe not.
2. The US Republic will be a facade, with all the power concentrated in the Executive branch.

It already is; just look at the power[s] the federal wields over the State.

3. Rule of law will have become a quaint memory.

It already is: F&F is proof of that.

4. Citizens will become subjects.

They already are; consider how rights have turned into privileges granted by government. -- Much of this is due to giving LEOs the "benefit of the doubt" WRT the War on Drugs.

5. Government will determine what are ‘rights’ of the people.

They already do; don't you remember Roe v. Wade, or what about Raich, Kelo, Wicard?

6. The last light of western Christian world evangelism will have been extinguished.

Why do you think that's America? (Indeed there's much doubt in my mind that America really is "a Christian country"... if it were would we have the problems we have? Crippling debt? Social/moral decay? Indeed, much of societal ills would be much tamer if "Christians" really loved like Jesus loved; and is not the goal of the Christian to be like Christ?)

Brazil is in 2nd place, according to this article; though a simple ratio to population yields US @ 127,000 / 314,000,000 = 4.04e-4, Brazil @ 34,000 / 192,000,000 = 1.77e-4 means that the US sends about twice (2.28) as many per capita than Brazil. (It might be further interesting to make that per capita per GDP.)

South Korea was poised to claim the top missionary-producing country circa 2006; it would not surprise me if they had done so by now.

In any case, there is little danger in God's word diapering... in fact to assert is to question Jesus's ords about the Law, as well as the competence of the Holy Spirit.

7. Our children will have lost the blessings God bestowed upon our generation.

Those blessings were squandered long ago; as a country we are the prodigal son. What else can be said of a country which has killed dozens of millions of its own citizens, claiming it good and an exercise of 'choice' than that it is evil? Therefore, as an evil nation, I see little reason to bitch and moan over Bad Stuff® justly happening. (Just as our financial problems are the result of our irresponsibility.)

But if too many cast their protest vote and obama gets in with all the powers I listed, there won’t be any chance of anyone conservative getting elected nor any conservative bill getting through Congress.

There won’t be any need of the Republican party other than as an ultra-weak loyal opposition, looked upon by the media in the same way they view obscure people who run for president every four years and get 12 write-in votes.

“Those crazy Republicans introduced a bill today trying to reinstate that obsolete ‘Freedom of Speech’ thing again. They’re the ones who want to allow people to own guns! Ha, ha! What will those wacky folks think of next? Leader Obama said he wasn’t going to imprison them since they are just harmless mentally ill people.”

“Speaking of Leader Obama, his nightly 3-hour speech will begin in 5 minutes. And that’s the 6:00 news for today, September 11, 2042! I’m Chris Matthews. Have a good evening, comrades, and Allahu Akbar!”

You're not understanding my point: every vote for Romney is a vote that [signals] the GOP really doesn't need 'conservatives.'* (Yes, I put quotes around the c-word, because the principles espoused, put into action, would not keep things status-quo.)

Further, in post 52 I address each of the seven points in the article; the president has a lot less impact on many of those than one might think. The problem is not "who is the president [going to be]?" but instead "what is the moral character of the nation-as-a-whole, and in particular its leadership?" -- the answers to that question are far more revealing.

* Except, perhaps, as side-show minor-/token-character types.
