Biden: Romney is ‘going to put y’all back in chains’
washingtonexaminer ^ | August 14, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

Vice President Joe Biden told an audience in Danville, Va., that Mitt Romney’s policies as president will put them “back in chains.” “”He said in the first 100 days he’s going to let the big banks write their own rules,” Biden said on Romney’s economic policy. “Unchain Wall Street! They’re going to put y’all back in chains.” Earlier in his speech, he said that Wall Street had gone from being the most efficient “allocator of capital” in the world to “a casino.”

Absolutely...just listen to his “accent” while he’s saying it. It’s a disgusting thing to witness.

It brings to mind John Kerry's "Can I git me a huntin' license here?" comment.

Romney may put us all in chains but at least he won’t eat our dogs.

I must have missed Romney’s “Repeal and Replace the Emancipation Proclamation” speech...

Talk about turning the Founders' ideas upside down!!

Now, it is the Obama-Biden team of "redistributionists" of other people's hard-earned dollars who have the audacity to accuse the other side of putting citizens in "chains."

The Obama-Biden philosophy is diametrically opposed to the view America's Founders expressed in the Declaration of Independence from just such a coercive government power. And the Founders' understanding of human nature and "the tendency to abuse power" guided their proceedings in framing a written Constitution to put "chains" on their representatives in government, including the President.

The wisdom of the Founders, as expressed in the Constitution for self-government they devised and implemented, was their understanding of human nature and their recognition that some imperfect persons, elected or appointed to positions of power over other imperfect persons' lives, would not somehow make better decisions than those persons would make for themselves.

The Far Left in 21st Century America, with all the centuries of recorded history available to them, and with all available psychological studies of human behavior, nevertheless, operate with this "fantastical" theory that the opposite is true.

Is it deliberate, or is it total ignorance and lack of the gift of reason?

See Dr. George Carey's essay on the "Founding Fathers' Views of Human Nature" here

". . . it would be a dangerous delusion were a confidence in the men of our choice to silence our fears for the safety for our rights. . . it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited Constitutions to bind down those whom we are obliged to trust with power: that our Constitution has accordingly fixed the limits to which and no further our confidence may go. . . . In questions of power then let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."- Thomas Jefferson

And, here excerpted words from President Andrew Jackson's Proclamation of December 10, 1832:

"We have received it [the Constitution] as the work of the assembled wisdom of the nation. We have trusted to it as to the sheet anchor of our safety in the stormy times of conflict with a foreign or domestic foe. We have looked to it with sacred awe as the palladium of our liberties, and with all the solemnities of religion have pledged to each other our lives and fortunes here and our hopes of happiness hereafter in its defense and support. Were we mistaken, my countrymen, in attaching this importance to the Constitution . . .? No. We were not mistaken. The letter of this great instrument is free from this radical fault. . . . No, we did not err! . . . The sages . . . have given us a practical and, as they hoped, a permanent* Constitutional compact. . . . The Constitution is still the object of our reverence, the bond of our Union, our defense in danger, the source of our prosperity in peace: it shall descend, as we have received it, uncorrupted by sophistical construction, to our posterity. . . ."

*Underlining added for emphasis

And, it was Thomas Jefferson who used another metaphor with reference to the Constitution when he indicated that "the People" must "bind them (government) by the chains of the Constitution." In another instance, he declared: "It was intended to lace them up straitly within the enumerated powers. . . ."

Biden doesn’t know what he means until after he says it, and then it isn’t what he means to say. Such is the thought scape of an idiot.

If I didn’t know better, I’d think Biden’s been told to say things so ignorant and stupid that he’d have to be removed from the ticket and replaced with.......HILLARY CLINTON! They can’t let Plugs debate Ryan, can they?

I've been wondering the same thing. When you look up "ass clown" in the dictionary, you'll see a pic of Joe Biden!

The VP debate between Joe "Ass Clown" Biden and Paul Ryan will be epic... I can't wait! Wish there was more than one VP debate...

0baMao is too arrogant and too blind to his own mistakes to ever replace Plugs.

0baMao considers himself to be a 'fighter' like Ali, a guy who brags and wins, even with one hand tied behind his back or, in his case, an idiot VP weighing him down.

0baMao would rather win a competition than to actually do anything truly beneficial for the USA.

All of which means yes, we can look forward to a Ryan vs. biten debate.

Biten won't try to counter Ryan's logic; he'll just tell the audience that Ryan and Romney are lying in order to give tax cuts to the rich.

Just wow. Soon, Dixie will be Dixie once more. I’ll bet elite hypocrites like Joe wouldn’t mind having a few slaves, if truth be told.

Use of the contraction Y'all is earned by birthright (i.e. being born south of the Mason-Dixon line). Biden has no such birthright.
