America finally has a politician running nationally those who esteem freedom can respect both in character and also largely in ideology. From his Aw Gosh demeanor and Middle-American values, springs a nimble mind which quickly grasps the core issues. He can even articulate them without a teleprompter.
Mitt Romney chose rightly in Paul Ryan.
The Romney campaign had recently tested Condi Rice as a trial balloon. The Wall Street Journal exhilaratingly proclaimed, Ms. Rice's assets are obvious: She's a woman; she's black It looked bleakly like Romney might trip into the same trap as Senator McCain.
Sarah Palin is not the brainless bimbo of the Lefts characterization. The hyper-partisan press subjected her to a vicious crucible of hate; relentlessly portraying her as stupid, not because shes stupid, but because Mrs. Palin fiddles with their pretensions and rejects their progressive theorizing.
The problems with Palin were not actually with Palin. Shes wonderful as a lightening rod leaving liberal elitists recoiled into vituperation. Its admittedly fascinating watching Palin put feminists panties in a bunch. But McCains harebrained rationale for picking Palin was to woo disaffected Hillary supporters, a shameless gimmick.
Identity Politics reflects a national scourge. Elections ought to be about character, ideas and experience, not sex or race. People arent defined by boxes checked on a census. Groupthink is not an attribute. Politicians abusing government authority by pandering to special interests, be they based on race, class, geography or other factional divisions, is deplorable. Balkanization will be our downfall.
We just underwent national catharsis with Barack Obama. A president with a dearth of prior experience, questionable character and whose ideology is radically left of mainstream America. But, per Spike Lee, many saw Black Jesus.

With race or gender. we would have been a whole lot closer to character, principles and experience,
“Elections ought to be about character, principles and experience”
Mittens doesn’t have character, principles or even experience in running a government conservatively. So he’s going to have to run on Obama’s lack of those three characteristics as well and hope the public at large doesn’t realize he’s a dirty con-man too.
Ms. Rice’s assets are obvious: She’s a woman; she’s black
This is the problem with the USA, We couldn’t look at her as being intelligent or having foreign policy experience.
Heck we can’t even note THAT SHE DIDN’T WANT THE JOB!!
Picking Rice would have tied Romney to the Iraq War and the democrats would have made the election a referendum on neoconservative foreign policy (even though that is exactly what Obama himself practices). Smart move to stay away from Rice or any other Bush era retreads.
Thank God they didn't go down that road.
No doubt she was being pushed by the holdover RINO, McLame advisers, Mitt stupidly retained and wanted her in order to court the so called "Moderates."
She is but a step above Colin Powell (which ain't saying much) in her liberal views and would have been a disaster in efforts to get true Cons like myself in holding our noses and trying hard not to regurgitate as we voted for Romney, not that we support him, as few of us do, but in an effort to keep the commie from getting reelected.
Thanks for your comments!
Well, here’s the facts. The facts are that despite actually being in power in both Congress and the White House, the Democratic Party turned a blind eye, in fact they even hiked the deficits to multiples of Bush on a bad year, turned their heads while Obama commanded what he would call a “dumb war”, in Libya, as well as adding Somalia, Yemen, and a few other places to the unofficial list of rogue states. Since the rule by the left has been totally a waste of time, that’s about all they are going to focus on, regardless of whom we ever got as the nominee or running mate, because frankly, their “sky is falling” rhetoric is all they’ve got. Very few politicians in the GOP would govern extremely far off center, and that’s a fact that even they can’t live without distorting.

Romney would be a war-wonger no matter what, but I believe Rice already refused anyways, so it has been a done deal for some time.
