Imagine the roles were reversed. An employee of the Christian conservative Family Research Council goes over to the D.C. Center for the LGBT Community.
He shouts, Its not you, its about the policy! He shoots a security guard. The FRC leadership expresses remorse, but the media are out for blood. The story is above the fold in the major newspapers. It leads on every network news program. MSNBC runs a banner all day: Christian hate group attempts mayhem against gays. The president goes on camera to deliver remarks on tolerance and goes to the bedside of the wounded LGBT security guard. The hue and cry goes up for FRC to shut its doors. Its hateful rhetoric is responsible for the violence, we are told. Sponsors of FRC are targeted for harassment, and groups that donate to FRC are denounced as well. This must end!
Its entirely believable, because weve seen variations on the theme so many times. But of course in reality the FRC security guard was shot, and the incident doesnt make the front pages of most newspapers. No one would dare hold the LGBT community responsible. And the White House press secretary had a statement from the president, who didnt publicly speak on the incident itself.
The coverage was bizarre in some instances. Take the local ABC affiliate, which said that some advocacy groups were casting it as a hate crime. Umm, didnt the shooter say it was about FRCs Christian conservative policies?
Why did the press not swarm the offices of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tagged FRC as a hate group and routinely vilifies FRC? Why not query the anti-Chick-Fil-A boycotters?

Here is a case in point:
The false politicization of the Family Research Council shooting
Several reasons.
(1) Media bias. Liberal rhetoric can’t be responsible because liberals are kind and tolerant. Blah, blah. The media ain’t what it used to be, though.
(2) Conservatives are good and reasonable people. We wouldn’t blame conservative rhetoric if a conservative went-off, so we don’t blame liberal rhetoric if a liberal goes off. Liberals are not quite so good or sensible ... they demagogue and blame conservative rhetoric even if the shooter clearly wasn’t conservative, or even if they’re just making wild-ass guesses.
(3) Guns. Liberals always blame guns. We always blame the shooter. They aim for political points ... we aim for justice.
(4) To be honest, the shooter sucked. Armed to the teeth — he got off one shot, wounded a guy, and got his ass whipped. Thank God he was so incompetent ... but if he hadn’t been, I think he’d get a bit more attention.

Excellent points! Thank you for those. I wholly agree. And yes, it was providential - imagine the bloodshed had he gone upstairs...
The question now is not whether views like those the FRC espouses will prevail or whether they should even be considered a valid part of the public dialogue but whether the great multitudes who believe gays should be treated fairly and equally can overcome the last, persistent vestige of legal inequality: marriage
Clearly, they not only think the gunman was on the right track, but they want the rest of us to face the firing squad as well. And this is from a mainstream newspaper in a major American city.
Yes, I noted that too:
“or whether they should even be considered a valid part of the public dialogue” -
How obvious can they be?
The news media is a wholly-controlled arm of the RATS. That’s why.
Yes, I think Chick-Fil-A sandwiches should be designated as WMD.
The media yawns and if it bothers to report the incident, downplays it or, as in the Baltimore Sun, uses the incident to ostentatiously question the 'validity' of the Family Research Councils opposition to same-sex 'marriage'. It is no longer remotely debatable that not only are the media in bed with leftists but act as their propagandists, rendering them as useless as a source for any information beyond the most superficial.
The media is the queer end of the RATS.
