No, not a good idea. Obama will then release forged copies of his college transcripts, like he did his birth certificate, and then Romney will be obliged to turn over 5 years of tax returns. That would be a trap for Romney.
I’ll tack on a 2nd bad idea... I’d rather Romney did release the taxes, looked right into the cameras, and said, “As with ALL Americans this country provided me with opportunity. Not a hand-out, but an opportunity to prosper if I sought out to earn it. I worked hard, took risks, maybe even got lucky here and there.. and I made a buttload of money. LOTS of it. I’m rich as hell! I damn sure didn’t want to pay a lot of taxes on it, who in their right mind would? When only 1/2 of American’s pay ANYTHING and when so much of Federal spending goes to such stupid, wasteful things it would be equally wise to just toss my earnings down the toilet. Tell me all about the GSA blowing money on a lavish party and I’ll tell you there’s Americans that will pay taxes their entire lifetime and still not put much of a dent into the cost of that party. Tell me about billions going to American hating HAMAS, of millions to fund abortions in CHINA, or tell me about failed stimulus programs... and then come crying to me about not having enough of my hard earned dollars. Screw you!”
But very fortunately for Mr. Romney... my career choice doesn’t involve writing speaches or public policy statements.
If Romney releases them at all, it should be as PDF files, exhibiting the same kind of layering and evidence of tampering that Obama's BC does. The sections that have been tampered with should have information that agrees with what is on the physical documents. If questioned Romney should admit they were tampered with, and then offer to produce the physical documents for comparison - provided Obama does the same for his records.
