SJB, I agree with you wholeheartedly.
We don’t have all the inside information, but intuitively we know Obama is destroying our nation, just by the things we can see
Your discussion with your military friend gives us a prime reason to work for Obama’s defeat.
With God’s help , let this be our finest hour. The best legacy to our posterity is to ensure the survival of the freedoms we were bequeathed by those who came before us.

RE :”
In summary, with Romney, we have a chance to survive. With Obama, we have NO chance...”
Well the above states the problem. “a chance” could mean 10%, it could be 1% or it could be the same as a lottery chances. It is not much to go on and I don't usually place bets on such odds.
If Romney were running on a platform of honesty : as a super rich liberal light who will do similar things as Obama but not as bad as him, bigger on supporting big business, a little less on supporting welfare, then it would be easier to rationalize those arguments I get every-day. Look at who comes out for him on the shows : Sununu and Guilani. GAG
But unfortunately he ran as a Republican and that meant he had to run as a uber-conservative free-market freedom guy, when clearly that is who he is not. Now he must navigate through the general election trying to slip away from some of those positions he took, and eventually he if he is elected will be much like GWB was, probably a bit lighter on abortion and such.
Because of that and because GWB played the make believe thing too and it ended so badly, another disaster under Romney after GWB will be the end of any hope of a future. How can Republicans(ie those who call themselves conservatives) all line up behind another one, then all run away, then do it both again and ever be taken seriously? They will proved twice that Republicans=Disaster. It will be a message to future generations for a decade : Don't trust this party (or anyone who says they are a free market conservative) with anything.
I would have felt better if Romney picked one of his liberal friends (Sununu , Guilani, Mccain, Grahamnesty ) as VP and run honestly. The make-believe thing will be a disaster either way.
Like I said, too bad we don't live in the simple black and white world of the Hannity shows. Things would be so simple.

Obama intends to destroy our entire economy, and save for a few question marks, I know how he intends to do it. No Boehner, or McConnell flunky will stop him, as they have already proven that they are cowards. Indeed. We need to vote out Obama and his Marxist minions and immediately get to work on getting rid of the cowards in Congress.

” Well the above states the problem. a chance could mean 10%, it could be 1% or it could be the same as a lottery chances. It is not much to go on and I don’t usually place bets on such odds.”
I put our survival chances(without a 1930’s type depression) at about 30-35%, not 1 to 10%. With Obama, ZERO percent, as that is his goal, and because he is black, none of the GOPe will stand up to him, so he will succeed.
” But unfortunately he ran as a Republican and that meant he had to run as a uber-conservative free-market freedom guy, when clearly that is who he is not. Romney is a capitalist, and Obama is a combo Communist/Fascist. Not much of a choice. As for the GOP, we have to rebuild it, or it will be relegated to the ash heap of history, anyway. It will probably take civil unrest by the Tea Party just to fix the GOP, and that is if Romney wins.

” i have been told by that cadre not to vote based on fear. Im not cowering, i am looking at two crystal clear options and choosing the MOST PRAGMATIC of the two with a view to saving our nation from destruction. One has to assume from their posture that they welcome the destruction and look forward to a rebuilding. Sorry, i cannot sit by and vote for that destruction. My kids are 18, 20 and 23. THEY will not sit and vote for that destruction either.”
Correct.
And if Obama wins, and starts or causes a civil war, I wonder how many of these “holier-than-thou’s” will be on the front lines ? : )

And if Obama wins, we will be too buy fighting him, and trying to survive. There will be neither time, nor the inclination to root out the GOPe in D. C.

Is that a fact?
***Yes that is a fact. Now that JimRob says he’s going to pull the lever for a lying, baby-killing, gun-grabbing statist does not change that fact.
Sure, go ahead and tell us that Romney is as bad or worse than 0bama is.
***CINOs do more damage to conservatism than democrats do. I lived in Santa Barbara a few years back. Our conservative congressman did a pretty good job. Along came this republican dude with lots of money, named Huffington. he spent more on this congressional primary race than any other in history. He unseated the congressman. When the time came to vote, I could not pull the lever for this POS and wrote in the former congressman. Straight Republican ticket. Years later, Huffington admitted to being gay, his wife divorced him and started Huffington Post, and do-nothing congressman Huffington basically did more damage to conservatism than any democrat ever could. The seat has been firmly in the hands of a librul ever since. Writing in the conservative republican over that POS was the honorable and conservative thing to do.

we will have another election in 2016 and that, too, will be the most important election in your lifetime.
***Same with 2020, that will also be the most important... and so on. The same overblown fear gets whipped up every election cycle if the GOP-E nominates a CINO. Proceeding from that fear is a form of cowardice.

Your writing here is verbatim how I feel about the whole situation. Let me add this. I am looking at this election as if the very survival of the United States is at stake, because in all likelihood, it is. If Obama is elected, the only thing that might save us is a civil war, or at the very least, the majority of American states refuse to recognize Obama as POTUS, and blow him off. Obama intends to destroy our entire economy, and save for a few question marks, I know how he intends to do it. No Boehner, or McConnell flunky will stop him, as they have already proven that they are cowards.
Obama intends to destroy our military. ( I had breakfast with a high ranking Air Force friend yesterday, and he not only believes Obama will destroy our military, he said it has been profoundly damaged already).
Look, I am a right wing conservative, and proud of it. I did not vote for W the second time, and I did not vote for scumbag, traitorous McCain either. This time, (very) sad to say, I dont have that luxury. I could post here for an hour about all the damage Obama has already done,(and intends to do in the future) and I would barely scratch the surface. In summary, with Romney, we have a chance to survive. With Obama, we have NO chance, save for some form of civil war.
In a nutshell, this is basically what other Republicans have been saying, some honest reasoned Conservatives among them.
My position has been that I cannot vote for anyone who is going to do this nation harm.
Just this morning I was listening to Romney and Ryan explain how they would reduce spending over time, so that they could eventually start paying down the national debt. Okay, what does that mean? What it means to me is that we are now expected to support a plan that will see our national debt grow from $16 trillion dollars, to $25, $35, perhaps $50 trillion before we start having budget surplusses again. Am I supposed to sign on to that plan? Not gonna do it.
I have stated that I will not be voting for Romney on November 6th. The Ryan addition did bring more energy to the ticket, and I think it makes it much more likely that Obama will be defeated. It still doesn't bring me to the place where I can support the team. The budget is supposed to be the most shining example of why we should vote for these two. And then you find out that their budget plans also extend way out into the future before they expect us to start paying down the debt. No! We need to get our house in order today. Neither of these guys has grasped the Wisconson truth.
You explain what pain there will be, and you implement the plan that rights your charge immediately. You cannot get away with promising something that will happen two or three administrations on down the road. We have bought off on that until our nation is practically destroyed. NO. I'm not sitting still for that any longer. It's a big fat lie, and everyones knows it, or should know it.
Some points that Romney made this morning were sound. Increasing jobs and getting the economy back on track is job one. And balancing the budget does happen quicker with that plan implemented. We still can't continue to hand out money we don't have to people who won't lift a finger to pay their own way. That must end! NOW!!
Another point Romey sought to make was, that we need to develop new trade agreeements that see our goods sold more broadly abroad. This has been the same language that has been used in the past to bolster unfair unbalanced and even insane policies, that saw our manufacturing base gutted, while other nations benefited from the marvels of a robust manufacturing base, and we saw the irrefutable marvels of what happens when our manufacturing base is crippled. Sorry Mitt, I'm not going to vote for another Free Traitor.
At any rate, I am much more comfortable with explaining why Obama is not presidential, one way or another, without voting for two men that still plan on deficit spending way out into the future. I will stop criticizing Romney and Ryan after the convention. I will continue to trash Obama, and hope that Romney/Ryan win. They won't be doing it with my vote.
I will not be voting for Romey/Ryan on November 6th. That will drive some of you crazy. It will leave me perfectly content, knowing I didn't contribute to Romney/Ryan dismatling more of what is good about our nation.
Adding more debt? No
Legalizing the illegals? No
Striking down Obamacare so we can implement our own government based plan? No
Striking more deals that see more of our jobs go overseas? Let me think about that... ah NO!
Strike more deals that allow foreign nationals to work here? Surely you jest...
Supporting someone who couldn't see a problem with voting for a budget plan that might cause automatic severe cuts to our national defense? No
I mean seriously folks, this team agrees with far too much of what Obama's beliefs are, for me to sign on. Not gonna do it.
In too many ways, this Republican team will merly allow our nation to slip, waiting for the next Democrat team to start off right where Obama left off.
In 2016, we may get a sound nominee. If we do, I will be voting for him. If we get another "It's really okay if we do a lot of what Obama has been doing, but it will be a Republican administration doing it..." crew, I'll just sit it out again.
Unfortunately, jobs are only the tip of the iceberg folks. In Three Card Monty, the card you're supposed to identify, is sometimes removed from the table in a crooked game. It's my take that the Conservative card won't be left on the table after this election. In some ways it will, but not enough to make the big difference our nation must have.
We are still going to be putting off the tough choices. We should know better than that. If we don't, who will?
