CNN Hypes GOP Links of Military Obama Critics

CNN is harping on the "partisan" connections of a group of military veterans criticizing President Obama, likening it to Swift Boat, yet it has helped further liberal partisan attacks in the past through its own biased coverage.

"A new group of veterans, including former Navy SEALs, accuses President Obama of taking too much credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. The group says it's nonpartisan. But a CNN investigation finds it has close links to the Republican Party," reported Joe Johns on Thursday's The Situation Room.

"I know you know some of the criticism, and the criticism is that even though you claim to be nonpartisan, that this group is actually very partisan," anchor Soledad O'Brien grilled former Navy SEAL Scott Taylor on Friday's Starting Point.

And CNN's words played into the White House talking points of a "Swift Boat" attack. "And this sort of has shades of 2004 and John Kerry," noted Joe Johns," to which correspondent Brian Todd added "And the Swift Boat campaign."

Todd later reported, "The Obama team denies taking part in any leaks and says the Republicans are resorting to Swift Boat tactics, a reference to the blistering 2004 attacks on John Kerry's Vietnam War record."

And CNN should look more closely at its own double standard, having praised and given generous airtime to Democratic talking points versus grilling veteran soldiers over their alleged GOP agenda.

For instance, CNN had praised a "nice clip" of President Clinton lauding Obama's leadership in the bin Laden killing, out of a "very slick" Obama campaign video.

Days before that, CNN aired two uninterrupted minutes of an Obama campaign video that touted the President's leadership. "It has the look and feel of a Hollywood blockbuster," hyped Wolf Blitzer, "but it's really an Obama campaign film."

In June, CNN aired four uninterrupted minutes of President Clinton praising Obama at a Democratic fund raiser.

And when liberal nuns launched a bus tour slamming the Ryan budget and saying it will "devastate our country," CNN did label them "liberal" and reported that the nuns supported ObamaCare – and actively cheered them, as anchor Carol Costello gushed "You go, girls."

Honestly, even from the beginning, I have been somewhat wary of this attack on Obama. Not sure what good it will do, and there is a potential downside.

Notice that the LMSM is using the term “Swift Boat”.

But, when you take a critical look at most of Kerry's statements, his discharge paper (general) and dates of his discharge and awards you have to wonder: Why are those dates 7 or 8 years after the events? My DFC was only 10 months late, my discharge paper work was correct, and my DD 214 was not delayed.

To me, if the “Swift Boats” are shooting at you there has to be a reason because they are not at all like Hollywood paints them.

Utterly maddening. False assumptions leading to false (and invalid) conclusions. Juan Williams tonight attempted to set one of the Seals back on his heels (sorry) by comparing the Seal group to the Swiftees. Meaning, of course, “the discredited, dishonorable” Swiftboat Veterans for Truth. Already wrong-headed. But worse, I think, is assuming that a link to a politcal party is an automatic deal-killer. Isn’t it the job of “journalists” to investigate the truth of what’s being said or claimed before it starts discounting what’s said or claimed? No. It appears that certain attachments (with Christianity, Catholicism, the GOP, the Tea Party, aye, the Swiftees) are all these journalist need to discover “truth.” Why don’t we all get jobs that easy? No need for investigation or research or a 3-degree background. Just find out who likes or supports a point of view, and you’ve done all your homework. You know what you’ll report. This is the scientific age? an age of reason? the culmination of milennia of learning?

FOX, you’re worse than the main stream. You’ve risen to heady ratings under the guise of fairness, and THIS is all you have to throw at patriots? Disgusting.

It’s exactly what they did to McCarthy (Joe, not Gene). The guys with the megaphone get to define the terms. Swiftees BAD.

Juan Williams was okay when he was first hired by Fox News after he was fired by PBS. Now I can’t stand him and mute him when he is on. He has a program on FNC this weekend about schools or education.

It's always been my understanding that a TV station was required to have a QUORUM present to approve an accusation of "partisan connections".

Therefore, CNN is definately practicing fraud and corruption. WHY ?? Because there is no way they could have gotten the THREE required people to make up a quorum to sit down to watch anything on CNN.

Check out the movie “Act of Valor” and then compare the Navy Seals to the eunuchs in our White House and the eunuchs surrounding Barry. No contest. The American people ain’t buying CNN’s propaganda and vile attacks on these American heroes.

Everything the MSM is attempting on behalf of their Socialist God, Barry, will backfire, IMO, come November 6.

Thank God we have heroes willing to cover the backs of our active-duty troops.

Barry sent Moochelle and Biden’s wife to start an organization in hopes of sucking up to the military. Actually, military families. Unfortunately for them, it doesn’t seem to be working out. Military personnel and their families are not as dumb as the commie libs think they are.

Have we become such cowards that we are afraid to speak the truth? These leaks are damaging and could cost American lives. Feinstein even spoke up. Gates stormed into the WH to tell them to STFU. And in a related matter, Obama invokes executive privilege to protect Holder and the disclosures about Fast and Furious.

Is it any wonder that Obama can conduct a backdoor amnesty for 1.8 million and have Congress not raise a finger to stop him? There is tyranny in the WH and we have even so-called conservatives "wary" of attacking him. Grow a pair.

O’Brien is a liar. She claims to only be interested in broadcasting the truth, but in this case, rather than doing that, she attacks the group.

We need to keep this in mind: Somebody leaked but the Obama administration is doing nothing to find out who. In fact, in reality they are not advancing the investigation into the matter at all.

"Close ties to the Republican Party" means they don't vote for Democrats.

This is not a new truth. At this time, these guys coming out now might seem to be just piling on. I dont want any sympathy for our Clothesless Emperor right now.

As my tagline says, I simply want him defeated. I dont know if this is going to ultimately help or hurt that cause.

Piling on? Pure rationalization. This is similar logic from those who believe it is better to reelect Obama to avoid the demonstrations and destruction that might ensue from his defeat. I guess we can't attack Obama because it might engender sympathy. From whom is the question.

Obama has succeeded in the initimidation and neutering of many so-called conservatives. McCain conducted his sorrowful campaign afraid to attack Obama. Political correctness and fear dictated his strategy. If the Romney campaign does not go after Obama's personal narrative and weaknesses, it will lose.

Perhaps I am not making myself clear. I can agree with you 100%, but what matters to be is strategery. I want to win. They are going to have to win over most of the wishy washy voters, and those people are susceptible to thinking that this is piling on. What we say in this echo chamber doesn't matter.

Trust me, I dont like that guy AT ALL, I have never had a distaste for a president this strong, EVER, and that includes Clinton. I just want this guy out to LOSE. That is the primary objective.
