The Evansville Museum in Indiana corrected their misidentification of a glass piece of art held in storage for 50 years. The rediscovered artwork is a valuable Picasso original gemmaux work, created by baking different pieces of colored glass, titled "Seated woman with Red Hat." Documentation associated with the piece incorrectly indicated it was by an artist named "Gemmaux" with a design inspired by a Picasso oil painting, and the work was kept in storage for decades.

I mean every piece by Monet I've had the pleasure of viewing has knocked my socks off! And I was lucky enough to see a few Van Goghs that just jumped off the canvas.

When has anyone call Monet or Van Gogh modern artists?

(excepting the 1880's, of course.)

If you took this ‘art’ to a psychiatrist( without a name on it) they would say it was the work of a disturbed individual. The contorted expressions of a convoluted mind. Put ‘Picasso’ on it and its ‘art’. Ugly as hell but still ‘art’.
You can find the same in therapy sessions at any mental hospital.
Sell the hideous thing and use the money for something that is beautiful and uplifting.

That’s the kind of stuff I did in HS art.

One of the few (only?) F’s I ever got on a report card.

"When has anyone call Monet or Van Gogh modern artists?"

Hmmm well Iwas taught the "Modern Art" era is considered the period from 1860 to the late 1970s and includes disciplines like Impressionism Post-Impressionisn and being Monet was born in 1840 and died in 1926 and Van Gogh was Born in 1853 and died 1890 both would indeed be Modern Artists and are considered two of the giants of the Modern Art Movement in fact one of the main disciplines of Modern Art is the Impressionism movement which got its name from Monet's Impression, Sunrise.

And of course Van Gogh is THE Post-impressionist which is another discipline of the Modern Art Movement.

Then later you get Cubism, Expressionism, all the way up to Andy Warhol and his Soup cans etc.

But, ya know...

I think they are trying to justify their woeful art by saying, “We’re just a continuation of these pioneers”.

Pshaw.

"Wikipedia much?"

Some but being My Mom is an artist, my aunt was an artist and my daughter is studying to be an artist And I spend lots of time at Art Galleries including the Cleveland Art Museum where they have Monet's Water Lilies and several Picassos and even a few Van Goghs. We usually stop one weekend when we go to the Cleveland Browns Football game.

I totally love the woman with daisies. I would hang it in my house. It is so awesomely bad. Most of it is just bad, but that one is special.
