Heh; I can remember 21¢/gal, in 1969 at Drake Univ in Des Moines. When the stations on the large intersections' 4 corners had the famous "gas wars", Reg (leaded) dropped to 13-14¢/gal. My new '69 VW Bug w/ 10gal tank was a pleasure to full-up for $1.30 and drive for 7-10 days. At 62, I feel like a fossil.

Dime values for coins dated 1964 or earlier have the current silver price as their base value. At over $28.06 per ounce, all silver dimes are worth at least $1.89 each.

2 Dimes will still buy you a gallon of gas.

We had 19 ¢/gal at “U-Pump Ethyl” in Columbia, MO around 1970. Sure did help a poor starving college student get by.

“U-Pump Ethyl” was my ALL-TIME favorite gas station name. First self-service station I ever used.
