Do I think the government is too big?
Yes.

Do I think the government has exceeded it’s constitutionally delegated powers in many areas?
Yes.

Do I think it needs to be downsized and have things like social welfare programs go back to the states where they rightfully belong?
Yes.

Do I think that everyone in the federal government is anti-free speech, and trying to get ready to round up conservative Americans, religious Americans, or other Americans based on what they believe/say?
No.

I suspect many people who work for government are actually pretty pro-American.
Sure, for quite a few, it’s just a job.
But there are good eggs in there.

But I doubt very many at all really understand what the Constitution means and that the federal government is one of LIMITED JURISDICTION AND SUBJECT MATTER.
But most Americans don’t understand that any better than government employees.

“..It’s still not okay..”

Didn’t say it was “OK”, ma’am.

I just suspect his political affiliations, is all. The OWS crowd has an entire anarchist component to it that is just waiting to cause havoc.

What he said, and the way he said it, constitute terroristic threats by today’s standards - especially with a paranoid left-wing admin in control.

Tomorrow’s standards may be even worse if what’s-his-name gets re-elected.

“My daughter has this little psychopath bastard of an ex-boyfriend who has harassed her for the last 2+ years. Keeps getting her phone number. She has changed it nine times in two years. He is in Texas, we think. She is in Oregon. But his last text messages included things like “I am going to come kill you”. “I’m going to go Idaho and cut your (new)boyfriends throat.” This is in (writing) texts. I contacted the FBI because she is afraid. They said there was nothing they could do.”

You might try contacting the local U.S. attorneys office citing this law:

18 USC § 875 - INTERSTATE COMMUNICATIONS

(c) Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

1. The references to “Sharpen up my axe; I’m here to sever heads”???? That’s a lyric from one of Raub’s favorite bands. In the song “Bring me down”.

2. SCOTUS decisions are clear. You can write what you want, and say what you want, as long as it does not involve imminent danger such as shouting “fire” in a crowded theater. Or in the case of gross violation of a communities standard of morality such as pornography. Neither was the case here.

3. Given the above, the FBI agents and others that were involved should be suspended. They should be either dismissed or retrained. Wherever the orders were issued from should be investigated and the person responsible should be dismissed for cause. No pension or benefits should be given to those that have violated the Constitutions protections of free speech.

I don’t agree with a number of the things that Mr Raub put on his Face Book pages. So what? “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
— The Friends of Voltaire, 1906 (By Beatrice Hall)

On the subject of Constitutional rights: True patriots must sometimes hold their nose to support principle. If we allow the erosion of our rights by the government, we endanger the rights of all. As Benjamin Franklin stated: “We must all hang together, or surely, we will all hang separately!”

That is why if you post on Facebbook use a fake name and hide your IP. Make them work to find you.

"It was essentially threatening to kill people over it that did. "

I agree. I previously read them here on FR, but strangely, have not seen them repeated in this thread or the othet two listed by dirtboy. It is a crime punishable by at least 6 mo jail term in TX to make a terroristic threat. I think that it is also a felony (not sure). It seems to me that some of this Marine's statements were serious enough to warrant some kind of intervention.

If you are talking about a hypothetical scenario and a response to an action in that scenario, you can have broad liberties in what you say of a violent nature. We do that all the time here at FR. I am sure some in government security agencies look at some of the things said here and raise an eyebrow maybe, but wargaming, or discussing historical parallels is clearly protected speech, and that is the end of it.

But when someone makes an overt, specific threat against a person, people in general, or an organization of people, then they deserve any heat that rains down on them.
