NEW ORLEANS (AP) At least some of the seven people arrested in a fatal shootout with Louisiana deputies have been linked to violent anarchists on the FBI's domestic terrorism watch lists, a sheriff said Saturday.
Detectives had been monitoring the group before Thursday's shootout in Laplace in which two deputies were killed and two more wounded, said DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle. His detectives and other law enforcement discovered the suspects were heavily armed adherents to an ideology known as the "sovereign citizens" movement.

Remember back when the local “nut job” was somebody like Ernest T. Bass? I miss those days.
Well, it took ‘em a few days of digging, but they finally found a connection to “Right=Wing Extremists” —

The sovereign citizen movement is a loose grouping of American litigants, commentators, and financial scheme promoters. The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation classifies “sovereign citizens” among domestic terror threats as anti-government extremists.[1]
Self-described sovereign citizens take the position that they are answerable only to common law and are not subject to any statutes or proceedings at the federal, states or municipal levels, or that they do not recognize U.S. currency and that they are “free of any legal constraints”.[2][3][4]
They especially reject most forms of taxation as illegitimate.[5] Participants in the movement argue this concept in opposition to “federal citizens” who, they say, have unknowingly forfeited their rights by accepting some aspect of federal law.[6]
In 2010 the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) estimated that approximately 100,000 Americans were “hard-core sovereign believers” with another 200,000 “just starting out by testing sovereign techniques for resisting everything from speeding tickets to drug charges.”[7]
Loony tunes. The whole sovereign citizens thing doesn’t make a lot of sense if you give it more than a few seconds thought. They claim they don’t recognize any authority above the sheriff but that apparently doesn’t extend to his deputies.
I bet they recognize the authority of the Executioner’s Needle.
As they reject the Constitution, they are pretty much anarchists. That is hardly conservative. I wouldn’t have much trouble shooting one of them if threatened. The threaten my way of life as much as OWS and in similar manner.
It appears DeSoto Parish is ‘going green’, as a little TRASH is being picked up from the bayou.
I wouldn’t have any issues with them if they found an island somewhere and got the hell out of America. They can live in peace on their little island for the year or so it takes for them to realize that their goofy ideals just don’t work.
My former building manager was one of these guys. Oakland, black guy, Democrat. I’m just sure he was right-wing though.
Anyhow, the IRS cured him but good. Let him off with a lifetime of debt. He’ll never retire this side of Heaven....
Perhaps others in this movement apply these principles in more righteous or constructive ways. I don't know.
“2010 the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)”
The biggest bunch of hateful bigots (left-wing lawyers) on the planet who are making MILLIONS from calling people extremists. Not a very ligitimate or reputable source in my opinion.
Morris Dees - The lawyers formally incorporated the Southern Poverty Law Center in 1971, and civil rights activist Julian Bond was named the first president.
NAACP leader and hyper bigot Julian Bonds implication to his organization that Bush administration officials supported confederate slavery.
Civil rights leader and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond comparing the Bush administration in 2006 to the Nazis, claiming The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side.
In 2002, NAACP chairman Julian Bond referred to Ward Connerly, a black California Board of Regents member who had led the fight to end affirmative action in California’s public sector, as a “fraud” and a “con man.” Bond likened black conservatives in general to “ventriloquists’ dummies” who “speak in their puppet-master’s voice.”
Steal This Book ~ no doubt a foundational document.

Agreed - but it’s enough for the Lib Propagandists to hang the “Right Wing Extremist” tag on the perps — and since “Right Wing Extremist” is also a code word for “Tea Partier”, the brush gets very broad, and we’re gonna get tarred....
Not Really,

In particular, Joekel was believed to have links to the Posse Comitatus organization, which, according to Gustafson, had more adherents in the 1980s in his part of the country but has largely faded away.
“We got a feeling there were people giving him aid so he could elude law enforcement,” Gustafson said. “It just didn’t look right. These guys would be driving around at night, and they’d have weapons on the front seat. If you’re doing that, something’s wrong — you’re either hunting illegally or doing soemthing else.”
However, Gustafson cautioned, “we never had anything official showing” a link. “We don’t have it all nailed.”

“we never had anything official showing” a link. “We don’t have it all nailed.” <-— And the liberal media still runs with the phony “extremist” story because they think its going to help them take our firearms.
Detectives in Tennessee, Nebraska and Louisiana have sketched a portrait of an outlaw gang led by a 44-year-old accused molester named Terry Smith, who has a criminal record dating to 1984 in Morehouse Parish, the Times-Picayune reported Saturday.
