Yes, the guy does have a point when he discusses "legitimate rape" and implies that all claims of rape are not legitimate.
And the term "date rape" came into use about the same time as all the feminist nonsense about "no woman would make false claims of rape because the reporting and follow-up process is so traumatic". Forcible rape is forcible rape. Why do we need subcategories?
If subcategories are so important, why don't we talk about "stranger rape" and "teacher rape" and "marriage rape" and "gay rape" and quite a few others that could be named?
The term "date rape" has a political origin just as "undocumented immigrant" has a political origin. Both were made up for political purposes.
“Yes, the guy does have a point when he discusses “legitimate rape” and implies that all claims of rape are not legitimate.”
Exactly!
People do talk about marital rape or gay rape.
The assumption had been that rape was ‘stranger rape’, and so date rape was simply coined to refer to when women have been in such a relationship with a man—and there more likely in a place that afforded opportunity for a perpetrator—than if it were a stranger.
Just because someone somewhere claimed that women don’t tend to make up rape allegations, doesn’t mean that date rape isn’t a situationally useful term.
