No one has yet said what the purpose of these purchases is

Lets cut the BS. Hollow Points are for killing, not wounding but out and out killing. And who does the Government want to kill? How dumb does anyone think most real Americans think. When you look down the barrel at one of these King Obama's army I think you might have an answer. When have they put down rioters now?

Gubmint agents are not exactly the best shots. As evidenced by the many stories of cops and fbi agents expending an inordinate amount of ammo to take down one or 2 perps.

The HPs are less likely to over penetrate if they do actually hit a perp and less likely to ricochet in the more likely event they miss. So it makes sense to get the HPs. Also they are supposed to train with what they shoot so...

Hague Convention, not Geneva Convention.

1899.

If the SSA is antyhing like DHS they have to certify with the same rounds they carry on duty. There are all kinds of liability issues for practicing with rounds that are different from normal duty carry. It is probably a violation of service policy to shoot anything other than the hollow points they are issued.

Purchase a Russian AK 47 as the caliber is not the same as American tuff.

...well, then they might as well be hanging sides up beef up in the range so they can train with a lifelike target.

Dogs; they're going to train against dogs.

Yes, I’ve point-blank asked a lib-in-law if she believed that elected politicians are inherently more moral and intelligent than the general population.
The answer was an unequivocal “yes - otherwise they wouldn’t be there.”
Head-shake...

Yep; I've noticed that sort of thinking too.
What's to watch out for is also the case of "appeal to self authority" -- which is the same, except that instead of being someone else it's in the first-person: "I wouldn't be here if I didn't have the authority to be here, as justification for their presence."

Ask yourselves how ... these warlike preparations ... darken our land. Are fleets and armies(hollow point bullets) necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling ... that force must be called in...? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation - the last arguments to which kings (tyrants) resort.

I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array (martial law) if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlemen assign any other possible motives for it? Has Great Britain (this administration) any enemy, in this quarter of the world to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies(deadly ammunition)? No, sir, s-he has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other.

Even the Marine Corps doesn’t allocate 7500 rounds per Marine for annual sidearms+rifle training.

On average, less than 500 rds/person is consumed.

Not to mention, most training now is performed in simulation.

With the price of ammo, think of the numbers who could be hired for that amount, (...and train them in knife skills).

You’re likely right. That doesn’t make it right. There aren’t that many terrorists that the non-military government would need over a billion rounds for. This is planning for civilian dissidents - citizens.

Hollowpoints are not for practice.

Target practice usually favors a round which doesn’t deform, so multiple shots may be scored on the target.

I will be surprised if at least 10% of this doesn’t get sold “to the public” in the next 6 months, and 40% end up in another country to help some folks friendly with people in high places in DC.

Actually it’s the Hague Convention that bans soft ammo in warfare, not Geneva. It was done because the soft larger caliber bullets caused many amputations. Personally I find the idea rather quaint and silly. You can shoot someone with a Hellfire missile but not a hollow point bullet? What kind of sense does that make? And no it doesn’t bother me that it isn’t applied to civilian situations. If a police officer needs to shoot someone, it’s supposed to be because thay are putting the officer or someone else in danger. I want that perp stopped instantly, not bleeding to death or laying in a hospital after taking out a hostage or bystander.

You can practice with them, and it makes sense to practice with the same round you would use in the real world. In fact in a lot of action shooting facilities you cannot use FMJ bullets. They have to be soft. It may also be simpler logistically to just stock one type of ammp instead of two.

I looked at this guy's record and it's pretty embarrassing....

Embarrassing?

Au contraire, mon ami!

(A little French lingo there to prove I bear no animosity towards froggies.)

Just what, sir, is embarrassing about this general's record? To make a statement like that I would suggest that it is you that should be embarrassed.
