Ruger is a great company... I also have an old winchester (when they were made in New Haven). Is Marlin still made in North Haven?

All of my aftermarket mags are Mec-Gar.

Never had a failure with one yet.

I'm more of a clip man myself.

The Ruger you showed is magazine fed. I do not believe any Ruger firearms currently use "clips".

I did my small part & bought a Blackhawk SS 357. If I miss, I can always use it as a club!

I carry mine everywhere too. It’s especially great for summer carry. Even in short pants and a tee-shirt it conceals easily. It was a great purchase.

What a coincidence. My Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 mag also fell out of my boat, glurp! Anyone need a holster?

Bless Ruger! I plan to purchase a SP101, a SR22 and 2 LCP’s soon. A Vaquero .45 stainless is in my future as well.

Love ‘em.

Picked up a 10/22 takedown this past weekend. Breaks into 2 but feels as solid as a single piece rifle when together. Beautifully designed.

Rugged, dependable, well-designed and well-made firearms at affordable prices.

Everyone knows this, and so the company thrives.

There’s a lesson in there somewhere for other American manufacturing companies.

If it's off-the-shelf, you owe it to yourself to look at Kimber and Springfield too. The Brazilian offerings seem to have significant features for the price but there have been some comments about heat treatment. Can't say as I have no access to proper equipment to test them.

For a few bucks more, consider a Caspian frame and slide with Ed Brown innards; mainspring housing, grip safety, trigger, and grips to fit you hand; sights for the intended purpose; and electroless nickel, industrial hard chrome, Black Ice or similar finish. Have your 'smith use the MacFarland slide fit procedure if you want good reliability with better than average accuracy.

Yea, a custom costs more up front, but when you start modifying a gun the dollars really flow.

"... Ruger has always made high quality guns at reasonable prices."

Ruger has always made reasonable quality guns at usually reasonable prices.

Thank you for the correction. I agree with you.

Over the years I have thought of magazines as being clips, but you are right.

I think that's a reasoned thought. I just don't want to get into a situation and have to mess with tricky reloading. I purchased three clips magazines when I purchased my weapon.

Ruger’s customer service has always been good.

I have a Ruger pistol that had a (very minor) safety recall.

The deal was that if I would pay the shipping to Ruger, they would pay the return shipping, plus add a new magazine.

Without any prompting on my part, Ruger paid the shipping (not cheap for UPS air freight) both ways.

It might have cost them a little, but they have a lifetime customer.

(Coincidentally, they did anyway.)

Ruger has experienced some alignment issues on some of their early TD models. It seems to be a QC issue in the rush to get to market. Its more of an annoyance than a safety issue but is easily correctable with no need to send the rifle back to Ruger. If you don't have this problem then no worry but if you do here is the fix, Pretty simple.

Thanks for the list, Joe. Not always around with so much going on (this is another election year) but appreciate the articles you flag. Btw, nice flag ;^)
