So they could break into the squad car parked in the parking.

Good point. I was actually thinking of the responders to the call for help.

Any planned attack by a group would take out the resource officer first thing so him having access to a rifle would be a null issue.

Bring the rifle to the seen in a squad car.

Heck, that sign could be the motto for the Democratic Party.

Police in Plainfield are asking officials for permission to store rifles in the town's high schools so they'll be ready if violence breaks out.

What do these officers know that we don't? And why don't we, if it's this important?

Okay, 93% completed.  Thanks for the help folks.  If you haven't already, please click below and pencil yourself in.

Hmmmmm.

Usually, I'd have no problem with storing guns in schools. But this one triggers an alert with me, can't tell you why. Sounds like a police chief adding 2+2 and getting 5 as the result.

None of these small suburban towns can afford a school security officer.

They have 4 high schools. It doesn’t sound like a “small” town to me.

Around here even small towns that have a security officer have the squad car at the school. They think of it as a “beware of dog sign”.

It also makes the officer available to render assistance to other officers if it is absolutely necessary.

Stupid questions: why does he need a “rifle” in a school? Will a handgun not suffice? Do they plan on him taking 100 yard shots down a hallway? Does he need 20 plus shots? If they are trying to cover for contingencies, just put up guard towers and barbed wire and treat it like prison.

Sorry this makes no sense to me.

Carry the guns in the squad car.

I don't think they're saying keep the squad car guns in the safes. Just something extra available to give the staff a fighting chance in an emergency. I like the idea, though, I might suggest a pistol or two also.

Friend, check out the online video of Madison teachears screaming about the world is ending because they have to pay 10% of their medical premiums and kick in 5% pretax for their pensions, and then re-examine arming teachers.

Besides most are libs and hate guns and the entire concept of self-defense. The only people they get angry enough to kill are uncompromising conservatives.

” ... school resource officer can store a rifle. Konopek said having the extra weapon on hand would be useful “if a situation involving a shooter arises.”

If you take a step back and read the above I think you should substitute “Police” for school resource.

Since when are public high schools a police substation? Oh, excuse me I live in a “gun keeping bible reading” area of the Republic. I guess in major cities that have lived under Democratic rule for decades it is necessary to finally admit that high schools have to be a police substation because....

Just something extra available to give the staff a fighting chance in an emergency.

I can’t imagine that any police department would ever give civilians access to department weapons on any circumstances let alone as a matter of policy.

For one thing their insurance or bonding agency would drop them like a hot rock.

Not that bad an idea. I have a gan safe that contained a number of guns before The Horrible Boating Accident. It weighs about 550 lb. empty and would take somebody with a cutting torch and other tools quite a while to get into. None of the kids would have the necessary time and equipment. It would also take a major effort to disable the safe to make it inaccessible. If the cops think it’s a good idea for public safety, I don’t see any good reason to oppose it.

THE FENCE TEST, THINK ABOUT THIS, IT IS TRUE.
You can’t get any more accurate than this!

This is straight forward country thinking...by Jeff Foxworthy

Which side of the fence?

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.

A Democrat will delete it because he’s “offended”.
