Todd Akin Opens Door to Possible Exit
ABC News ^ | August 22, 2012 | George Stephanopoulos

Here’s what Missouri Congressman Todd Akin said when I asked if he was in the race to stay – even if it looked like he would lose and possibly cost Republicans control of the Senate.

“Well George, I’m never going to say everything that could possibly happen. I don’t know the future, but I do know this. I knew that the party voters took a look at our hearts, understood who we were, had a chance to meet us in many, many different ways and made a decision,” Akin told me. “And it makes me uncomfortable to think that the party bosses are going to dictate who runs as opposed to the election process.”

caller on Rush wants to look into Akin’s finances. Thinks he was a plant.

So who paid off Rush to call Sandra Fluke a "slut?" It's absolutely disgusting to spread rumors about a man like Akin who seems perfectly decent over one simple, innocent, mistaken statement. This is politics at its most immoral, cowardly and evil. Let's leave the "ends justify the means" garbage to the godless Democrats.

Is this a$$hat going to talk to every single leftist media personality in the world now? First he signed up for Piers Morgan and thankfully begged off, now he went to go see Lauer and Stephanopholous, what’s next, sitting on a couch with Oprah, Babs and the gals?

He’s a fool and a selfish fool at that, clearly NOT interested in the country or in defeating Obamacare but “me, me, me.” It is the worst of all sins, vanity.

You talking about Romney? He's currently losing badly against a President with approval in the toilet and a shattered economy. And he's allowing a huge issue to distract from the campaign by not releasing his tax returns for selfish, foolish reasons. If we want a truly perfect lineup of candidates, we need to jointly call for Akin and Romney to withdraw.

A new NBC/WSJ poll has some bad news for presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney: Barack Obama still leads, Romney’s pick of Rep. Paul Ryan has given him no bounce, and voters are uneasy with him due to his income tax questions and plans to overhaul Medicare.

LOL, so you think Romney should only do interviews with Rush, Levin and Hannity too?

Too bad that poll oversampled Democrats by about 6.

Whose side are you on anyways? You sound like one of those suicidal one-issue voters who would rather see Obama for another 4 years then Romney.

Dumbass is claiming the leftwing media is out to get him, when they're the ones propping him up. Captain Obvious needs to smack some sense into this head of knuckle.

My personal opinion is there are negotiations occurring under the radar. Whatever money it costs to buy him out would be well spent.

Radio news on the hour said that Akin spoke with Ryan last night. Could be that they are negotiating to make sure that whomever would be chosen as a replacement would share the pro-life views of Akin. They may also be offering him a post in the administration and assuring him that the GOP would pick up the tab for any expenses that would occur as a result of Akin's withdrawing. Ryan could have offered that the GOP conduct and pay for a poll and if it looks bad, Akin would agree to step aside. Also, Ryan could have driven the point home that he would not have the support of the national party nor any funding. Also, neither R would campaign on his behalf in MO.

There are all kinds of scenarios, but if anyone could knock some sense into him, it would be Ryan.

If it turns out someone is paying him to stay in the race, pro-life is going to take a major hit. I am so fed up with seeing blind support for candidates who are not worthy to serve in office. Akin needs to go.

“the people of Missouri chose me”

I’m a Missourian, and I didn’t choose you. You didn’t win by all that much in a three way race. And I’ll bet if you had made those fateful comments before the primary election you would not have won at all.

Romney never came out and said that women have some imaginary “vagina fairy” that protects them from rapist sperm.

I’m far more concerned about Akin and his terrifying potential for spouting abject idiocy.

Rush talking about this now. Newer GALLUP poll shows Romney up two . . . with REGISTERED voters. That means he wins in a technical landslide (4-5%).

Show me the internals of your bogus WSJ poll: How much did they oversample Dems? 10%? 13% That's the only way they can show an Obama lead any more.

You're looking at a Romney sweep of all but the truest of blue states, and may still manage to lose MO because of this fool---and a selfish fool---Akin.

It has nothing to do with pro-life.

It has everything to do with Akin being a semi-literate imbecilic moron who cannot explain his way out of a paper bag, and in one burst of blazing stupidity, he single-handedly lost the Senate and the Presidency to one of the most leftist, destructive parties on Earth. By his own ego and ignorance he will watch as Missouri falls again and Obama wins again. Not to mention the millions the Dems are now raising by mentioning his stupid name and his ignorant remarks. Akin is destroying America.

Now Obama will pack the Supreme Court with more Sotomayors and Kagans and we could all then say goodbye to this great nation, because it will be destroyed thanks to this ego maniacal moron named Akin!

Tell him to step down before, this nation is bleeding enough!

I'm curious to see if the GOP(e) will practice what it preaches. They pushed to give us a progressive liberal stealth democrat for a presidential candidate, and tell us now we must stick with him because he's the presumptive nominee. Akin, on the other hand, is a primary winner. He's beyond "presumptive". And yet the GOP(e) right up to Romney himself is asking Akin to step down. If Akin is tossed for a verbal error, then I demand Romney be tossed for being a democrat running as a republican as evidenced by the contradictions in his words and voting recording to the conservative party platform.

Word is starting to leak out that he’s staying in because he was paid to stay in. Who would pay him to stay in? I can think of several Democratic linked organizations. Primary is Soros.

Do you have a legitimate source for this phony accusation or have you been listening to too many looney tunes.

The Dems spent 1.5 million on the Akin campaign. Isn’t that enough?

I’m as pro-life as the next person. But is this what we want our candidates to spend the next 3 months fielding questions about?
It might be a good idea and it's about time, wouldn't you say? Forty years of baby killing and destruction of their mothers.
