(CBS/AP) -- President Obama weighed in on Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin's controversial comments about "legitimate rape" Wednesday, mocking Akin by saying he "somehow missed science class."
"The interesting thing here is that this is an individual who sits on the House Committee on Science and Technology but somehow missed science class," Mr. Obama said at a fundraiser in New York City Wednesday night. "But it's representative of a desire to go backwards instead of forwards. And fights that we thought were settled twenty, thirty years ago."

Akin is in all for himself, and not for the country.
Akin is radioactive. The commie press will repeat his insane remark 24 hours a day every day until he’s gone, using it to try and tar every other Republican in 2012 and to avoid having to report on the economy and Obama’s record in general. This is what the commie media have been waiting for: a way to define Republicans as extremist nut jobs, and Akin is their perfect storm. I don’t care who he is or what he stands for, Akin has simply got to go. Period.

I just ran across the figure that 36,000 women a year become pregnant from rape. I don’t know the original source or whether it included statutory. I also heard elsewhere that about 1/2 are terminated with abortion.

Like Obama said, Akin is a member of the House. At any rate, there's nothing you can do to stop the media from referring to his remarks, twisting them, and using them to try and hurt Republicans.
