Poll: Obama slips to two-point lead in Nevada

President Obama is holding to a narrow two-point lead in Nevada, although Mitt Romney has seen his prospects improve after naming Paul Ryan as his running mate, according to a poll released Wednesday.

The survey by the Las Vegas Review Journal showed President Obama and Vice President Biden edging the Romney-Ryan ticket 47 to 45 percent. That's the closest Romney has been to the president since an NBC News poll in May.

But while Romney edged closer to the president overall, Nevada voters who were polled are split on whether the addition of Ryan hurts or helps the ticket. While 28 percent said the Wisconsin lawmaker's selection made them more likely to pick Romney, 29 percent said his choice made them more inclined to vote for the president. About 42 percent said that the new Republican running mate would not influence their eventual choice.

Similarly, 48 percent of Republicans said they were more likely to vote for Romney after hearing about the pick, while 48 percent of Democrats said the addition of the Wisconsin lawmaker would encourage them to come out for Obama.

Voters were also evenly split on Ryan's Medicare plan; while seven in 10 said they were "familiar with Paul Ryan's thinking on Medicare," 48 percent said they supported his plan and 47 percent said they opposed it.

Nevada's six electoral votes could play a deciding role in November's election; the president is hoping that the Hispanic population in the state can help him carry it, while Romney is leaning on the Mormon vote and Republicans energized from his heavy campaigning there during the primaries.

The poll carries a margin of error of 3.4 percent.

There is a tidal wave coming and it’s aimed straight at the Rats.

Even DEAD Conservatives will rise from the grave to cast a ballot against the Traitor-in-Chief

I want to think that Romney wins Nevada. I live here in Northern Nevada and Obama was just in town. He drew a little over 2,000 spectators to the local Community College. When GWB came to town 8 years ago, he brought in 10,000 to a park. Going around town though, I see a LOT of Obama stickers on cars and of course Las Vegas and Reno will determine who wins Nevada. The rurals will be overwhelmingly, I mean 75-85% for Romney, but the margins Obama runs up, particularly in Clark Co. will tell the story...You all have to remember too that the state GOP here is marginally conservative. There is a large libertarian and RINO bent to the party makeup...

I have been in southern Nevada for 13 years. For the first time, the LDS Church is doing a registration drive.

Looks like the Mormons will be working just as hard as the Blacks.

That Obama leads in what used to be a strong red state is ever more evidence how the demographics of the national electorate are changing. The same goes for formerly solid red states like VA and FL. These have all become “swing” sates. Before long, the Rats will be the permanent national ruling class and won’t be different from CA where every statewide officer holder is a Rat and every single Rat in both chambers of the legislature were re-elected. And in 1980 CA went for Reagan in a landslide. Yes, demographics is destiny.

And in 1980 CA went for Reagan in a landslide. Yes, demographics is destiny.

In 2008 CA went for BO by about 61.1% vs. 37% for GOP's McCain.

All you CA readers here:

Check out the list of big blue counties that went for BO in 2008 (pp. 17-19).

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/sov/2008_general/sov_complete.pdf

Compare the number of BO bumper stickers and yard signs you see today in cities in said counties with what you saw at this time of year in 2008.

What do you see?

Alameda County went 78.8% for BO in 2008. Today in the SF East Bay I can see barely any BO bumper stickers at all.

The fact that Obama has any lead at all is most telling. This use to be a solid libertarian leaning state. Demographics is everything and it’s trending away from the GOP, unfortunately.

Didn’t Obama say some things very unhelpful to Vegas, Reno and Nevada at one point some time ago? Has everyone forgotten that?
