Organizers say 5,000-person march set for RNC first day - respect "diversity of tactics"
St. Petersburg - Tampa Bay Times ^ | August 23, 2012 | Richard Danielson

Posted on 08/23/2012 5:38:53 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

An alliance of more than 60 labor, peace, student, immigrant rights, gay and lesbian and other groups says it's ready for a 5,000-person march on the first day of the Republican National Convention.

"There will be nothing that will stop us from marching in the streets to demand good jobs, health care, affordable education, equality and peace and to oppose the party of legitimate rape," said Corey Uhl of the local chapter of Students for a Democratic Society.

...........Protesters are expected to come on buses from as far away as New York, Minnesota, Illinois and the state of Washington, organizers say. The crowd could include more than 700 college students. A member of Occupy Wall Street is expected to arrive with three busloads of demonstrators.

Organizers say the march will be peaceful and contend that any trouble is likely to be started by police.

Asked whether the march will try to prevent anyone from, for example, breaking windows or throwing rocks, march leader Jared Hamil said, "If they break the law, well, it's the law. Whatever the law says."

But Hamil declined to criticize groups that might not follow organizers' plans for a peaceful march with a permit from the city.

"I'm not here to say that anything is a problem," he said. That's because the coalition has adopted a brief set of guidelines, "The Tampa Bay Principles," that emphasize respect "for the diversity of tactics" and a commitment to keeping criticisms of other activists internal to the movement.

"If people choose to do a different type of tactic, we ask that they separate (themselves) by time and space," Hamil said. "What we're doing on Aug. 27 is a permitted peaceful march, and whatever other people decide to do will be done in a different place at a different time."....

“Education is a Right”

Yes, and I have paid property taxes since May of 1966 for your right to attend K thru 12th grade & get an education on my dime.

I have no children.

Approximately 50% of my property taxes for all those years went to help pay for the schools you & your unwashed buddies have attended.

Since you are proving to me that the product of that investment is severely flawed, I would like to apply for MY MONEY to be RETURNED to me. 46 years of property taxes, often on more than property at a time, including my retired father’s property would be a nice retirement fund for me right now.

I would not hire any of the 4 of you shown in that photo. Not now—NOT EVER!!!

BTW- I managed to work & PAY every penny of those taxes without the benefit of a college degree.

May I ask a stupid question? How does marching in the street get anyone a good job or healthcare or education, etc.?

It doesn't. Most of these guys are only in the protest to pick up chicks. They figure any female stupid enough to fall for the Protest signs and memes will be stupid enough to fall for their pick-up lines.

If they don't, they can always rape them in the tent after they fall asleep.

Corey Uhl

Don't know this guy from Adam, but I know the look, I know the swagger, I know the smug little ideological smartest-thing-that-ever-came-up-the-block orgo-riotizer. Come on in here, Corey milad, we'll cash your chips for you.

When you get to hell, be sure to say "hi" to Jerry Rubin and Che Guevara.

[CW] You can turn the superstructure loose to threaten the public peace, smash things up, abuse the electoral process, create a media spectacle, and pressure the state to do things your way. You can use nonpolitical organizations (in the electoral sense) to get a political result.

Like Cousin Odinga did back home in Kenya after Barry-o's campaigning for him failed to help him get elected there?

It isn't a one-time outburst like those things tend to be in Africa (well, West Africa is an exception, where civil wars burn on for years), but rather a premeditated assault on society with an end of enslavement in view, of substituting the new oligarchic vision on the (unwilling) citizens of the victim-republic.

Cicero wrote extensively about the techniques used by Caesar and Crassus and their revolutionary (tyrannical) party to undermine public confidence in the tribunals of justice, the elections, the magistrates personally when they opposed Caesar. One of Caesar's recent biographers makes the case for Caesar's exquisite control of the Mob (which was armed, by the way, containing many veterans and not a few gladiators in its ranks, all armed to the teeth) to create finely calibrated, modulated violence supportive of a particular political point, but restrained from going further and muddying the message.

Crassus was a plutocratic adventurer -- one would think, in early-modern terms, that he was a member of a party of bankers and nouveaux-riches, but he was not: He was much more comparable to George Soros, but without the ideological agenda, just a personal one. Caesar was one of his tools -- like Antony and Caelius were Caesar's tools -- until Caesar became first a peer, and then a successor, after Crassus's death at Carrhae. (Captured by the Parthians, he was executed by having molten gold poured down his throat.)

And for what it's worth, not one -- not one -- of these men survived the Roman Civil War. Only Caesar's nephew was left (and some of Antony's children), who in Cicero's time was still a bed-wetting boy.

SDS = Students for a “Democratic” Society... A communist recruiting group.

They were organized in 1962 in Sharon, Connecticut. Their founding charter and manifesto was "The Sharon Statement" -- a warning right there that they were self-important and, as the poem went, "They said they'd rule wisely / And they said they'd rule well, / But they said that they would rule."

Bill and Hillary Clinton were early, if not founding, members.

Sociologists took a look at those New Left groups and found that many but many of their members were "red-diaper" children of older radicals and Communists and fellow-travelers. As the saying goes, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Bill Clinton interned as a teen for Arkansas senator Wm. Fulbright -- whom I always thought a Communist asset in the Senate.

July 24, 2012 - PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: “We tried our plan—and it worked. That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election. That’s why I’m running for a second term.”

Well hussein, if this is "your plan" if this is what you mean by "the private sector is doing fine" well then I certainly don't want any more of your so-called "successes." Because they sure look like utter, abject failure.

Gosh, you're right -- the Sharon Statement was the counter.

The original SDS statement was the Port Huron (Michigan) Statement. Which was not their founding statement, since the Port Huron Statement was issued in 1962, and the SDS had been founded in 1960.

Apologies for the error.

I have to question his judgment, since so many of them don't shave their legs, and so many more are lesbian. Kinda makes it a risky call, don't you think?

And to think last year I only had 1; and it was MALE!

Perhaps you failed to get the memo.

Seems like any RELIGIOUS talk should be shunted into the Religion Forum of FR.

‘Normal’ people get upset when RELIGION is found in the general discussion of all things American.

"Education is a right"?

No, it's a responsibility.

How's that workin' for Comrade Chairman Obama and his terrorist cronies in the Weather Underground these days?

"He [Bill Ayers] also writes about the Weathermen's sexual experimentation as they tried to 'smash monogamy.' The Weathermen were 'an army of lovers,' he says, and describes having had different sexual partners, including his best male friend."
