Let’s assume that selfish swine Akin survives. BFD. How much damage will Akin do to the other 8 competitive Senate races, 30-40 House races, and the Presidential election?

As long as Akin remains the GOP candidate in MO, the dems will milk this as long as they want and there's NOTHING the GOPers can do about it. As such, this will likely result in the loss of Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Because the dems will pound the Akin flap into the heads of voters (and you KNOW they can succeed at this).

So, sadly... the dems can inflict as much damage up and down the Republican ticket as they wish. And, like a spent, beaten boxer taking repeated blows to the head, we are helpless to do anything to stop it.

On the other hand, Akin could put his country first and stop the bleeding now, take one for the team, step aside and let the GOP field a viable candidate and allow this debacle to fade into memory. Until this issue is resolved, the rainmakers from the hurricane won't be the only dark clouds over Tampa next week.

You mean the GOP-E Team, the Romney Team, the Carl Rove team, the pro-abortion anti-conservative team that is calling for an Olympia Snowe clone to replace him?

That Team?

But, remember, how people on this board excoriated Rick Santorum when he said in 2011 or 2012 that we sometimes “have to take one for the team.”
