An Oklahoma City student was forced to turn his shirt inside-out because he was wearing a University of Michigan T-shirt, violating the district

I did a USAR 2 week stint with my unit at Ft. Dodge in Iowa. As a reward for some hard work, we were all allowed to go into a town, a few of us decided to hit one of the bars. A few of us did not have any civilian attire, so we had to wear our PT shorts and T-shirt....The bar had the same type of policy and barred us from entering. Evidently, they felt we were a risk for gang activity..
I told them that hell yeah we were a gang, in fact we were the biggest and most powerful gang in the world. Hell, many an entire continent felt our wrath!
Hahaha...
My Buckeye son-in-law agrees, but he also wants the exemption to include THE OSU. :-)
It’s a clear rule with a reasonable (if not brilliant) rationale. Live with it, or send your child to school somewhere else ... keeping in mind that private schools will probably have a uniform including a plain shirt, and if you homeschool, you don’t have an audience for the message of your shirt.
It's a stupid rule. Period.
And I'm an Oklahoman....and a Sooner and Cowboy fan.
“Hail to the Victors Valiant, Hail to the Conquering Heroes, Hail, Hail, to Michigan, the Champions of the West!!!!” Brings tears to my eyes... :)
What are the gangs called that 5 y/o’s run in? The Hot Wheels? Sheesh...
You're still sore because Cheaty McSweatervest got caught. GO BLUE!
The Sooners are my Big 12 team, and have been for 40 years.
Oklahoma City Public Schools banning clothing with sports team logos unless they are from Oklahoma colleges or universities...........WHAT?
A 5 year old not wearing THEIR chosen school logos/colors is agains’t that boys civil rights. Definitely a case for a good lawsuit. Additionally, considering the shirt to be “gang related”, aAre all the people in that school system really that stupid? what the hell has happened to this country??????
Another tremendous reason to home school you own kids. Doing so, they can wear any damn color/logo they want...It’s part of the First Amemdment of the U.S> Constitution, is it not?
There’s nothing “stupid” about dress codes.
The kid can wear anything he wants (or his parents allow) when he’s on his own time.
Same with corporate execs, policemen, military, McDonalds workers.
Dress the part. Nothing wrong with learning that early.
Schools DO have a problem keeping gang activity out, and gangs DO adopt certain schools and colors to identify themselves. School administrators should not have to be dealing with this stuff. It’s easier, and wiser, just to ban them all, K-12. Good argument for school uniforms.
Solidly on the school’s side on this one. The kid needs to be learning, and he can do that in a plain shirt.
Next thing you know, the schools will be controlling what damn color and type underwear you can wear. Our society has fallen off a cliff and landed on its head.
So one gang will wear OU shirts and the others will wear Okie State shirts.
I’d like to see which gang will wear the Oral Roberts University T-Shirts.
Apparently things have changed - my kids wear tees all the time. (Usually school teams, but sometimes pro or college.)
See you in November! Remember the Rich Rod travesty and the total DOMINANCE by The VEST. Get ready for the Urban Shocker!!!!
The rule is a good one. Next up.......all Iowa State shirts banned in all Iowa schools.
If it is a private school and the parens want to send them there, so be it. A public school with no uniform requrirements, kids should be allowed to wear what their parents give them permission to wear, as long as it is not offensive to the general public. Kids should be allowed to express themselves.
Ha ha ha! Well of couse we haven’t forgotten our old pal RR with his awesome defenses and special teams (/s X 1 million).
November indeed. Have no doubt that Urban will be a great fit there, and the rivalry will be more competitive going forward, as it should be.
Mine too, kind of like a mixture of CS gas, skunk and that chicken you left in your trunk over a long hot weekend. :-)
Go Oiho State (any other spelling is now racist)!
As it should be indeed!
