Huckabee digs in behind Akin
Politico ^ | // | Alexander Burns

Todd Akin hasn't had many high-profile supporters with him in the trenches this week, but Mike Huckabee became an important and emphatic exception Thursday afternoon, sending a message to his own supporters accusing Republican elites of trying to drum a good man out of a winnable Senate race. Here's what Huckabee said in an email to his list this afternoon:

Party’s leaders have for reasons that aren't rational, left [Akin] behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound.

Stop wondering.

This thread appears to be a convention for traitors and quislings.

We’ll never win an election by attacking our own candidate. This smells a lot like the old attack on Palin.

Yes, that is the reason for my current tagline. They can’t seem to even read the large print these days.

Truly one of Palin’s worst moments.

Mike Huckabee is against abortion for rape and incest.
How many more “pro-lifers” in Washington, DC can say that?
The party if dominated by RINOs that believe it’s OK to murder your baby if you don’t like who the father is. The GOP is now lead by a liberal by the name of Mitt Romney.
It’s a damn sad state of affairs when the two people opposing each other for president have basically the same social positions. Hold you nose and vote for a RINO. 2008 redux.

That’s a fact!

This place seems to have lost it’s collective mind on this issue.

Akin is our candidate, and all who attack him are doing Rove/Satan’s work.

Well, SOMEBODY is going to get Claire McCaskill re-elected.

Because so long as the epicenter is Todd Akin, there is no way he is going to get elected. His candidacy is doomed, and he will not bow out gracefully.

When Robert Toricelli of of New Jersey was forced out, a tired old senile fossil, Frank Lautenberg, was rushed in to take his place on the ballot, so the action is not unprecendented. As I recall, Toricelli was not particularly graceful about his exit, either.

But exit he did.

Spiro Agnew got marched out of the Vice Presidency in the dark of night. There was a replacement for him, waiting. So this is not a new strategy for a political party to assume.

Bullshit!

You and all those like you are destroying conservative poilitics across the country. We need a solid wall against Rove & Co. and guys like you are stealing the bricks to throw at our candidate.

If his candidacy is doomed, it is because of stupid knee-jerk nonsense like the posts on this thread.

Akin is still a good candidate, and can win in a Bible Belt state like Missouri easily, if only our own party would would stop the attack, and support him.

So are saying that a pregnancy not planned should end in the death of a baby?

I defend all life, no matter what the circumstances.

It is so rare that the mother’s life would be lost if she kept the pregnancy to be nonexistent. In general issues come up after the baby is viable (now after 26 weeks maybe even sooner), so there is zero reason to kill the child, just perform a C-section and the baby will live. The so called “life of the mother” argument, is so woman can kill viable babies in the womb.

Oh, so a normal pregnancy along with at the very same time an ectopic pregnancy, never happens... Sorry, I know it does, and to save two lives the ectopic pregnancy had to be ended.. as to do nothing placed three lives in imminent danger. There is NO way I could ever tell this mom she should do nothing.

Many women receive abortions that have used the pill, their partner, condoms, or other devices. Are you saying you are against them having abortions too, but for the woman who has been raped?

I do not want any government entity telling me I have to pay for abortion. That also means some 'compassionate' governor of a state mandating insurance cover abortion.

I am not sure where you got this notion that I support abortions for rape victims. Rape is a violent act. For a female victim of rape that results in pregnancy should be 'her' decision. And I am not convinced that a 12 year old rape victim could medically speaking, carry to term and birth a child without her 'health' being endangered.

No I am not a doctor, but, I do try and use common sense.

Why wouldn't he believe what he says, there is some medical evidence he is not wrong.
The Guttmacher Institute conducted a study around 1999, that said pregnancy from rape is extremely rare.

rare, viable baby - come be honest here
There is not a viable baby in an ectopic pregnancy.
