What should have been done, is that everyone should have kept their mouth shut until it was determined if Akin was positively in or out. And that should have been worked out privately with him. What he said was at worst, an inappropriatly timed and poorly prefaced idea. He is being treated the same as if he would have drowned a relative of Mary Jo Kopechne in a drunken car wreck, or raped Juanita Broderick's sister, or running a prostitution ring out of his garage. This is not about standards in the republican party, this is about the fear and stupidity of the republican party. The response from us isn't even close to being on par with what he said. If you really believe that, why don't you become a Democrat ? If you want a party to be silent and cower in fear at the left, you can get that with the Democrats. You can believe that the right thing to do is shut up and not defend conservative values, but don't bash people who will stand up for what is right.Akin can enjoy his $2 million dollar blood money at home.
