Shooting outside Empire State Building

There are reports of multiple people shot outside the Empire State Building.

FOX 5 News has learned that at least three people have been shot.

The scene is chaotic as people make their way to work in the heavily trafficked area.

One person is in police custody.

FOX 5 News and SkyFoxHD are headed to the scene.

Several shot at Empire State Building, authorities say

New York (CNN) — As many as five people were shot Friday in front of the Empire State Building in New York, a spokesman for the New York Fire Department said.

Authorities converged on the building around 9 a.m. after reports of gunfire.

Additional details were not immediately available.

Word right now is 7 people shot. Being called a robbery. Shooter dead.

it appears from police scanners that the shooting was related to a robbery and that the perp has been shot (it is unclear if they were apprehended or are DOA). According to the FDNY there are "several" people being taken to nearby hospitals while they mitigate the scene.
