The other day I received an e-mail from the suddenly famous Sandra Fluke under the simple heading "Legitimate rape." Presuming that the message was not exactly personal, I deleted it, but I could have guessed its tone and tenor.
Indeed, I had heard more about Rep. Todd Akin's unfortunate choice of words on the subject of rape in the last few days than I had heard about the actual commission of rape in the last decade, including rapes and other sexual abuses by members of a certain political party.
Mimi Alford's recent book, Once Upon An Affair, details a few such incidents. No one who has read the book doubts its veracity. Alford's "affair" with John F. Kennedy began when she was a 19-year-old virgin working in the White House. To her great surprise, Alford found herself being given a private tour of the family quarters by a president whom she barely knew.
"He placed both hands on my shoulders and guided me towards the edge of the bed," she writes. "I landed on my elbows, frozen between sitting up and lying on my back. Slowly, he unbuttoned the top of my shirtdress and touched my breasts." It goes on from there. The emotionally overwhelmed Alford did not resist, but if this isn't rape, it is something damn close -- a flagrant abuse of power, what the French might call droit de seigneur, the right of the master.
To flaunt his power, Kennedy later had Alford perform oral sex on one of his aides. "It was a pathetic, sordid scene," Alford writes. "He had emotionally abused me and debased Dave [Powers]. For what? To watch me perform for him and to show Dave how much he controlled us?" To her credit, Alford refused to comply the next time

Great Headline.....libs won’t recognized the bite
I wonder how things would have transpired had he used Whoopi Goldberg’s terminology.
RE: Whoopi Goldbergs terminology.
I’m a little slow -— what on earth is that?
RUSH: The Republicans ought to have, as a theme on one of the nights at their convention, a War on Women theme night. And on the War on Women theme night have some of the more famous victims of the Democrats' War on Women. Like the women Clinton has attacked.
A reference to Roman Polanski’s rape of a 13-year-old girl in a hot tub.
She claimed that what he did wasn’t “rape-rape”.
B I L L C L I N T O N ...........
The voice of experience regarding R A P E...
All valid points.
RE: She claimed that what he did wasnt rape-rape.
I’m still a little slow (haven’t had my coffee yet ). What on earth is rape-rape as opposed to plain vanilla rape?
I’m so confused, first, we had RAPE, then we have “legitimate rape”, now, you’re telling me there’s “rape-rape”.
Could someone please tell me the difference of each?
The problem with this is the amoral left doesn’t care.
The Republicans need to break out the brass knuckles instead of tucking tail and running all the time. Somebody on the Repub side says something incredibly stupid, misspeaks, etc. & they are run out of office on a rail. The Dem ranks are populated with people who say something equally as ridiculous or who actually do the unspeakable .... rapists, crooks & corrupotocrats and they are held up as leaders for the Dem party and treated like rock stars. The Dems are focusing on abortion and gay marriage at their convention ... baby murder and perversion .... while the country is economically in flames & headed for destruction. Just wow.
Maybe that was Todd Akin's mistake. If he'd just had the presence of mind to say, if it was "rape rape", and not legitimate rape', then he would have been using acceptable terminology. He might even have been invited on to The View.
The RNC and hateful remarks like on this thread (that is all it was meant to be-dump on Akins and his supporters) will be what causes many in the base to walk Remember we are the ones who stand outside the church property and make sure everyone is registered to vote and hand out voter guides. We did that because of our faith & we believe all abortion is wrong and that homosexuality, especially pushed on our kids is wrong. We don't do it for the party. We do it for our kids and because we obey God. Our convictions motivate us, not hatred.
Also remember this is a conservative site, not a republican site, ask Jim. I do think of him as a wise person (read some of his articles) who sits above and watches everything going on down here. He is a humble man and would not accept the “wise” label, but he is.
Sorry, I did not mean to direct that posting at you. It was meant for the haters.
In fact, I posted it on the completely wrong thread. Sorry again.
You’ll have to ask Whoopi Goldberg about that one.
