Rasmussen Reports ^ | 8/23/2012 | Rasmussen

As the controversy over Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” comment continues, Mitt Romney’s lead in Missouri has vanished.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters finds President Obama with 47% support to Romney’s 46%. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate in the race, and three percent (3%) more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Whatever - head in the sand.

Akin was toxic even before his gaffe.

The ABR’s found a new avenue to hand over 4 more years to Obama, don’t kid yourself about these people.

Maybe the Reps should have been a little less vocal and public in their piling on of Akin.

The vocal reaction you cite was because everyone with any political acumen whatsoever knew this idiot had fumbled so badly there was no recovering from it. What no one could have ever predicted was how delusional and selfish this moron would be.

The good news is that with a very weak economy, Romney will still win the election. The who issue is the Senate.

Akin can still get off the ballot, but he can’t be replaced. Where are you getting this ignorant nonsense?

Those aren't my words. Now who is the real ignorant fool here???

...assume all of you naysayers would rather McCaskill run unopposed?

The Rats have already started using this nationwide.Osama Obama's using it,Princess Liawatha has started using it here in Massachusetts and I can guarantee that it *will* work here....and,I'll wager,it'll be used in other places as well.

So,to summarize:a Senate seat in Missouri that was a shoe-in 10 days ago is now lost,Missouri, which 10 days ago was a shoe-in for Romney is now leaning Rat,and a pretty safe Senate seat in Massachusetts is now in serious jeopardy. And then there's the Electoral vote in *other* swing states and maybe even "leans Republican" states as well as numerous Senate seats that were ours for the taking.Akins hasn't shot himself in the foot here,he's emptied an entire clip into his *head*.The problem is that he just *refuses* to fall over.

We don’t eat our own, Akin needs gone, he’s a distraction an embarrassment and is going to not only cost a Senate seat if he sticks around, he is going to cost other close races and lord knows what him stickign around will to to Missouri as a whole.

Democrats aren’t attacking him because they know him sticking around benefits them, they are the ones cheering him on and sending him cash.

I’m sorry but the guys comments were over the top, not only the gut instintual “legitimate rape” gaffe, but then to imply womens reproductive systems won’t work if sperm is introduced forceably is just idiotic and ignorant.

Anyone that rediculously stupid about basic biology has no business in any law making capacity.

The Gaffe woudl be bad enough, the ignorance, is unexcusable. He’s now taken the campaign and created a giant distraction and harmed the very groups he claims to believe in. He needs to go. He won’t though, because like his ignorance over female reproduction he seems just if not more ignorant of political realities.

He can’t win, he can only harm, but he refuses to accept reality. I know EGO and DESIRE are big in folks who run for such offices, but while they are benefits in many things, they are hinderences in others and right now his ego and desire is going to ensure his political career is over and he’ll never have another shot and be basically a black sheep for the rest of his life.

Akin symbolizes everything wrong w the modern day politics.

Out of touch, out of control, delusional, selfish, greedy, self centered, and putting his own interests before all else.

F him!

Akin: This is further proof that Obama and McCaskill are weak candidates. Both should drop out. Thank you. And God Bless Me. /sarc

I think so too. I think a lot of people do. That’s why no one bought his Jimmy Swaggart style apology.

Name one person ready, willing and able to jump in his place that will have name recognition and the team in place to take over.

Thus, he can not be replaced.

Nothing or no one can prevail upon Akin to change his mind. The question then becomes how does the RNC respond?

Nice job Akin, you selfish bastard.

You will lose by 20+ points and may bring the entire party down with you.

Thanks also to all the “pure” conservatives who are insisting you stay in.

Brilliant folks. Just brilliant.

Then you are delusional. If Missouri voters believe that a verbal gaffe by a Rep Senate candidate is sufficient to vote for Obama over Romney, then they are as dumb as a sack full of rocks. MO had a statewide referendum on Obamacare. 71% of the voters don’t want it. So now a verbal gaffe trumps their dislike of Obamacare and host of other Dem policies affecting the economy, jobs, etc. If the GOP can’t make its case on the issues, it deserves to lose.

What this “is about” is stopping the infection. Because the patient refused the initial treatment, the remaining option is to amputate. But if you can’t or won’t see the negative implications of supporting a toxic candidate, and how he negatively affects other races nationwide, there’s really nothing more to say. I guess reality will eventually hit you. If not before, then definitely the morning after the election.

Akin - GTFO NOW!!!!!!

If I recall correctly, here in Wisconsin, Rasmussen puts Obama at 47% and Romney at 48% with a 4.5% margin of error. I remind you of this because Todd Akin is a few states away from Wisconsin and has absolutely nothing to do with how poorly Romney is performing here. With a Wisconsin native, Ryan, on the ticket with him, Romney should be well out of the margin of error -- nearly every other primary candidate would have been in my opinion. Romney's just that bad and Akin has nothing to do with it. You can try scapegoating Akin, but I don't think it's going to stick.

The GOP has had done more to make Akin radioactive than anyone else. When Romney and George “Macaca” Allen join into the circular firing squad is it any wonder that there are unintended consequences?

Hate to break it to you, but not only in Missouri, but elsewhere, most voters are that dumb.
