Embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin just told reporters in Chesterfield that he is staying in the Senate race against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.

Akin repeated the kinds of statements he'd made previously to national media, asserting that he's never had the support of the Republican party establishment anyway. [...]

The only thing that might cause Akin to fail is if the GOPe doesn’t get out of his way.

The comments that are bothering all of you bed wetters do not bother intelligent voters.

Personhood is a concept, not a biological characteristic.

The concept of personhood is based on objective facts rooted in biology. If it were up to the decisions of others, then the Nazis should have been left free to act on their decision that Jews, gypsies, and others were Untermenschen, subhuman.

The decision regarding personhood belongs to the parents

That wouldn't follow even if we accepted that personhood is unrooted in objective reality. Why just the parents, when the whole of society is affected by the 40 million lives lost to abortion?

Man... people are absolutely losing their minds over this meaningless nonsense.

If our team cannot keep its eye on the ball, then it is going to get hit right in the eye with the ball.

From what I can see, Akin is not the insane, backwards, lunatic moron in the picture, but a good percentage of our voting base most certainly is exactly that.

Then how is it that Akin's poll numbers have plunged?

Thanks for pointing that out, mlizzy. Didn’t know that.

The Leftwing Media, the GOP, and the talkers. That’s how.

How many took there cues from these sources? How many give a damn about what Akin meant say?

Re: Personhood is a concept, not a biological characteristic.

" The concept of personhood is based on objective facts rooted in biology. "

No, it is based on the intent of the creator, in this case it's the parents. The predominant biological system is the mother/parents and they have the sole right and sovereignty of will over all of their procreation related decisions.

"If it were up to the decisions of others, then the Nazis should have been left free to act on their decision that Jews, gypsies, and others were Untermenschen, subhuman.

The decisions of others disagreed and those folks thought it important enough to justify and kill nazis with gusto. Y'all going to start forcing women at gunpoint to nurture their unwanted pregnancies?

If you were bashed in the media by the opposition and those from your own party for two weeks your numbers would drop also.

Then apparently "intelligent voters" are not numerous enough to carry an election, and those who can't avoid ignorant and ill-considered remarks that turn away "unintelligent voters" shouldn't run for office.

I don't think there's any answer to that question that doesn't involve Akin which won't lead to a McCaskill re-election.

Remember Chick fil A.

People are fed up with Political Correctness. This blunder will pass. People want strong leaders not weak kneed surrender monkeys.

So that's all that made the Nazis wrong: the superior firepower of those who disagreed?!

Just wow.

Y'all going to start forcing women at gunpoint to nurture their unwanted pregnancies?

I prefer forcing those with medical training to not be accomplices to murder.

I’ve done all the blustering I can do over this... I refrain from any further comment on Akin the fool of Missouri; but for this last time... Akin, you ain’t no hero, you a donkey’s ass...

I agree wholeheartedly with every word you said.

Now we've got to somehow get this First Class douchebag elected to the senate.

Re: The decision regarding personhood belongs to the parents

"That wouldn't follow even if we accepted that personhood is unrooted in objective reality."

Most every cell in a human body is human life and can give rise to a person. In order for a person to become a person the creator, at least the mother must make the decision.

"Why just the parents, when the whole of society is affected by the 40 million lives lost to abortion?

The whole of society is not effected. In the event the parents wait to long to decide, and effective contraception no longer applies, folks have a right to decide when parenthood applies by law in default as a standard. It's the same with the age of reason.

Most every cell in a human body is human life and can give rise to a person.

Prove it - take a cell from anywhere in your body other than the reproductive organs and make a person out of it. We'll wait.

Why just the parents, when the whole of society is affected by the 40 million lives lost to abortion?

The whole of society is not effected.

Society is unaffected by 40 million absent lives? I'll let your statement speak for itself.

You're welcome. I don't know how much more of a true American this man could be. Their six children were also home-schooled. Link
