Conway police are investigating a home invasion that happened early Tuesday morning at a home in the 1600 block of 9th Avenue.
Shortly before 6:00 a.m., Conway police officers were called to the home in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, a man was lying in the living room floor of the residence with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Officers then spoke with the homeowner who told them that he was asleep when he awoke to find someone standing by his bed holding a machete.

If you want to have some real fun, wake a drunk up with the cold glass of water thing.
I tried that on my X and I can tell you that it is interesting.
An NCO advised the best way to awaken someone safely is by shaking the toe of their boot or foot.
The best sleep delirium I ever saw was during a field exercise with lots of pyrotechnics. Somehow a guy in his sleeping bag went from lying down to standing up in his bag, then bounced down a short incline into a creek while screaming something. Quickly fished out of the creek and his now sodden sleeping bag, he blurted out something about bears.
This is really, really crappy writing on the part of Williams.
The cops arrived and found what appeared to be a guy on the living room floor. Was he bleeding from a gunshot wound, slipping on a pickle or a fire ant attack? We don’t know. Wiliams won’t tell us.
Then Williams tells us that the homeowner was asleep, so maybe the guy bleeding on the floor did slip on a pickle.
Next we learn that the guy bleeding on the floor had a machete. Maybe he was trying to slice pickles and accidentally cut out his spleen.
Anything is possible in a William’s story. As we read more, Williams won’t tell us if the homeowner shot the pickle guy. No. He’s bleeding on the floor for some unknown reason. That leads to speculation.
Maybe the guy laying on the floor got hit by a meteor. As mentioned, anything is possible in a William’s story because he just throws bleeding people on the floor and won’t give a clue why.
Williams needs to realize that a story has a beginning, middle and end. Without those elements, you could lose your job.
Yeah, it was 40+ years ago, but that sounds familiar. SOP, I guess.
Shoot! All my drunks are dead so I can't try it.
WACH and LEARN people, watch and learn... any questions?
Are you referring to a rabid bobcat since you posted in reply to post #5? Is there more to the story regarding the story of how the 1911 came about in relation to rabid animals?
You gots me confused.
Not in today's journalism. If it doesn't show up in spell check or grammar check, it OK to print. Editors are just happy to get through the week without having to bust someone for plagiarizing or making the story up.
I don’t understand. Is there something wrong with me? If someone is standing over my bed with a weapon, I will fire and if they don’t drop I will fire again. If I have to run after them I will be firing. I will fire until my gun is empty on anyone who comes in uninvited and with evil intent. I thought that would be quite reasonable.
I got told the same thing 30 years ago. I guess it is SOP.
I am referring to the comment that a gun/knife fight always ends the same predictable way and that a guy with a machete will end the same way.

Read to the end. There are many other links, but I thought this one most interesting because of the recounting of Sgt. Alvin York’s story.
The perp chose a weapon that is deadly and quiet. It would have been VERY lethal had the home owner not woke up before the perp could use his weapon of choice. The homeowner just got lucky when he did wake up.
Ah! Sgt. Alvin York, reluctant American war hero, all he wanted was a piece of bottom land so that he could marry his Sweetie. Loved the movie and read about the man.
Thank you for the link!
Why so many in the bedroom? Shouldn't you disperse them through out your home to be more effective in case of a break in?
Absolutely.
Spread them around so that if a burglar breaks in he can find them before you wake up.
That will make an even fight. You do want to be fair.
