CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Downtown Charlotte is expected to host thousands for a gay pride festival a week before the country's Democrats come to town.

This year's festival comes after voters decided to add a prohibition against gay marriage to the state constitution, effectively slamming the door shut on same-sex marriages. The Democratic National Convention opens in Charlotte next week to officially nominate President Barack Obama as the party's presidential candidate this year.

You said it! Head shops, shock art, superfunky third world restaurants (try to order a hamburger and be told “Sorry, we don’t do European here”), clothing stores heavy on the tie-dye & sequined jeans, circa 1967 street people who are grayer but not smarter.
Was in Charlotte on Monday. The city is a patchwork quilt of ethnicities, lifestyles, & political agendas. Parts of CLT are also quite beautiful. The Democrazies & gayzies are just made for each other and next week will be a real ripsnorter. Those who actually live there seemed as resigned as the residents of Manila awaiting the invading Japs.

The week before the DNC, the homos will be out in force.
Then, during the DNC, there is going to be that huge gathering of Muslims. “Jumah at the DNC”. The event is expected to draw up to 20,000 Muslims.
Wouldn’t be entertaining if the two groups became aware of each other’s presence?
That is, tell the homos that after their event, they had better skedaddle out of town in a hurry, or the Muslims will get them and slap them silly, and the police will do nothing about it.
And tell the Muslims when they arrive that the homos have been touching everything after eating a lot of bacon and pork. (Which, of course, can turn heterosexual Muslims into homosexuals.) And that the homosexuals are still there, to lure Muslims into homosexuality.
