Ah, yes....the old Marxist “enlightenment” that depends on brute force and someone else’s money that the enlightened ones have taken. The Party fat cats have villas, and the peasants stand in long lines hoping for bread. We’ve seen this sorry scam perpetrated on people all over the world because when they grab the reins of power, Marxists can’t run a country.

Sorry, you miserable Leftist. Millions of us would rather fight than switch to your Communist utopia, that always winds up with millions starved and/or imprisoned.

"The question is where does the Democrat Party stand on economic growth, jobs, lower taxes and unemployment that are essential to our country's survival. "

Same Q for the Republicans. If we don't start making more of what we import, the country is going to descend into wage competition with China. There is no help on the horizon from either party.

The way to end the dole is to put Americans to work like they were when products you bought were MADE IN THE USA.

They need to put Romneys quote about the poor in context. He said he’s not concerned about them because there are already billions of dollars of programs in place to take care of them.

The question today is where the Republican Party stands on questions like health care, Social Security and, in general, the social safety net that is so special to the American way.

So special to the American way ???

Our social safety net was meant for the truly disadvantaged, infirm, disabled not for health care, welfare that millions abuse...etc

The American way is being self responsibility, work hard, play fair, love your country...not this clap trap this douche is pushing

“Medicaid alone will bankrupt us”

Imagine Medicaid PLUS Social Security PLUS Medicare PLUS Obamacare! They throw around a few numbers that sound like Stardates from “Star Trek” to “reassure” us of the programs’ “soundness” ... In FIFTEEN YEARS, we will be a combination of Greece meets Zimbabwe, if we do not STOP “Progressivism” NOW!!!

This goober obviously hasn’t seen the multiple studies which show, year after year, that conservatives and red states give more to charity than liberals and blue states.

Today, though, that sense of empathy is disappearing in the ranks of the Republican Party. For the most extreme conservatives, empathy is no more than liberal claptrap. It was Mitt Romney, after all, who said, “I’m not concerned about the very poor.”

I guess Stanley was in class at journalism school the day when they covered "taking things out of context" ...

Of course I agree.

But this writer implying that republicans are 'losing' empathy is like someone telling another, whom they've degraded for years, that if that person doesn't start being nicer they won't be their friend anymore.

“...the social safety net that is so special to the American way.”

I object to this hack implying that the Welfare State is the ‘American way’ - but consider the source - Stanley Crouch is one of those who remind me of Kierkegaard’s quote:

“The lowest depth to which people can sink before God is defined by the word ‘journalist’... “

Rand’s entire motto can be boiled down to two words: Be selfish.

The definition of selfish is concern for one's own interests. There is nothing wrong with that, and Ayn Rand did not prohibit a person from being compassionate and empathetic. Those who fear and are hostile to Ayn Rand confuse her ideas about rational selfishness which is perfectly moral with altruism and subjectivistic egoism which are immoral.

I wasn’t sure what to call it. I had to invent a word.

“I’m not concerned about the very poor.”

That’s because the very poor are looked after already.

Whatever the Republican platform is these days, I would have to guess the Democrat’s platform involves the breaking of all Ten Commandments.

If ‘Progressives’ lose their place of power, does anyone think they will just go quietly? Our greatest danger is from our neighbors who will allow/demand the government use of force to seize your property for their benefit. Your neighbor will sell you out for pennies. They are doing so right now, blatantly, in public.

Selfish is demanding to live off others without any real effort to earn it yourself.

Liberals know no bounds when it comes to selfishness.
