Romney invokes Massachusetts health law ahead of Republican convention

Mitt Romney is invoking his Massachusetts healthcare law in the lead-up to the Republican convention, alarming conservatives who argue it’s a losing issue for his campaign.

Romney's new willingness to talk about the issue could be a sign that he thinks the Massachusetts law could help him in November.

"My healthcare plan I put in place in my state has everyone insured," Romney told a CBS reporter on Thursday. In a second interview, he called the law an "important accomplishment" that is "working, by and large, pretty well."

[.....]

"I will be able to show that I have a passionate concern for people in this country," he told a debate audience in January.

Mackowiak wondered whether Romney's recent comments reflect a desire to appear more relatable to voters. Polls show that Obama leads Romney in likability.

"They're trying to show compassion," Mackowiak said of Romney's campaign.

This is why I KNEW he’d be a liability over any of the other Republicans in the race except for Ron Paul. Romeny is a RINO.

Anyone that believed that BS is gullible. I wish Newt, Cain, Santorum or even Bacnmann was where Romeny is now. I knew he was full of it when he said he would repeal Obamacare on his first day in office. Romeny was the worst of the bunch and onc e again the Democrats got us McCained like in 2008.

Sarah Palin is right when she answered if there would be a legitimate third party or if she would run in one and after Romeny pulls this crap I would gladly vote for a conservative in the conservative party.

For me, when he gets his nod in Tampa, it will be one of the worse days of my life. I thought I was ill when Clinton won. I can barely manage to look at his cowardly lying gay socialist agenda face.

This **** tempts me to become a sequestered monk somewhere in the mountains. Anything is better than another day in Sodom with the GOPe.

Quick, somebody grab a hook, it’s time to try to drag him off the stage like Akin. He said something supremely stupid with severe consequences for every American, so it’s actually worse than anything that Akin may have said.

Seriously, though, why is anyone surprised? It’s what Mitt Romney does. He’s been behaving as if he has it all in the bag for months, he’s already named his Vice Presidential candidate, before the convention.

No need to kowtow to the yahoos anymore, just blurt out the ugly truth and rake in the Democrat vote. What a strategy, Karl Rove must have some sort of brain parasite.

Mitt Romney is one of the few people the GOP could have nominated who is actually capable of losing this year. At the same time, 2012 may be the only year in which it is actually possible for Mitt Romney to win.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

(Shhh, don’t tell anyone here, but that’s my plan, too. I’ve just SAID I’m voting for Romney to avoid being beaten severely about the head and shoulders by the Kool-Aid drinking FReepers. ;)

Hahaha! Perfect!

It would be funny (although politically ruinous for the Republican Party) if Akin bought commercial time to demand Romney step down, wouldn't it? Might even revive Akin's candidacy...

"I don’t think he’s quite got this new conservative thing down yet."

No he hasn't - but you can bet the farm that he's going to get a torrid tongue-lashing from conservative voters - and Ryan, every time he drifts left.

State mandate to force people to buy it, just like he did in Mass..

He says it every time when he brings up Obamacare. I think people stop listening when he says, “Repeal..” and they don’t hear the next words, “and replace”.
