How could he be a paratrooper in the 1st Infantry Division, when that division had no organice parachute battalions or regiments and appears to not have had parachute units as attachments either? Parachute infantry typically were organic ergiments of the Airborne divisions or independent parachute battalions and regiments attached to corps and army headquarters for an operational assignment. What parachute infantry, artillery, or other parachute unit was it?

“I have had State Farm Auto for over forty years. I do a price check every once in awhile I have not been able to get a lower price.”

Forty five years of super service with State Farm as of next week, even though that they are a big backer of the testing programs to put mandatory GPS technology into every car.

"He apologized at the time for those comments, but the other day he told our photog that Geico fired him over the incident."

Which just goes to show: Say what you mean, mean what you say, and never apologize.

USAA. Period.

Me too. USAA for all insurance. NFCU for all banking. (except a very small savings account in USAA that I started years ago and just kept it).

State Farm has a lot of investments in Florida ~ so it's not just about insurance. They do a pass through on the automobile insurance, but the property investment losses are a killer.

Watch your rates if Florida has some serious tropical storms this year!

Regarding GPS technology around the DC Beltway we have some fairly rugged countryside adjacent to the highway. It's a regular event for people to have a wreck, go off the road, end up in the jungle filled ravine and be LOST for weeks or months!

We've had bears in the front yard too ~ speaking of close-in wilderness. GPS technology might be a good idea, or built in transponders to locate wrecks.

I have everything with USAA, however they farm out their boat insurance to the execrable Progressive. Just got done cancelling that policy, but so many insurers will only write policy for boats if they also have your auto and homeowners coverage. An independent agent found a company willing to write stand-alone boat insurance. Foremost Insurance in Grand Rapids, MI. Fast, easy, complete coverage. (cudos to Craig at Lohman Ins, Moline,IL)

Ummmmmm -- I'm pretty sure I've seen his GEICO commercial more than once since December 2010

What's with the obnoxious "ummmmmmm"? Ad campaigns are usually that--campaigns complete with multiple commercials of the same style or with a connecting theme. The fact that Ermy only did one spot (even though they air it more than once) is a result of them firing him and cancelling the campaign.

USAA,
That’s the one that has the commercial where the people explain that they “got theirs” from some family members service.
Theirs being the ability to buy insurance because a relative was in the military.
Talk about welfare entitlement! That commecial pisses me off. They did nothing, but because grandpa or someone else did something they “get their’s”?
By the way, dad was in the Korean conflict, and great uncle was killed in WWI. Where’s my handout?/S

He could have been jump qualified prior to assignment to 1st MarDiv. Once you earn those wings, you keep them.

Never thought of it as a “welfare entitlement” but you have an interesting take on it. It is true that I was the service member who served but I opened up accounts for all my children, wife, parents and brother and sister. I just thought it was a great bank and not really look at the service part. You do make a good point though I must agree (especially if USAA is using that commercial which I don’t particularly like). Thanks to all the service members in your family and for your support for all of them and today’s folks as well.

It’s a commercial insurance company, you give them money and they give you insurance. How is that a welfare entitlement/handout? If it upsets you so much just trot on down there and tell ‘em your dad was in Korea and get you some.

I called USAA last week for a car insurance quote for my son and they’re now outsourcing it to another insurance company.

Problem is, I can’t remember the name of the company.
