The Middle Kingdom continues to expand its influence and leverage its gains by purchasing U.S. debt. While our elected leaders bicker, communist China works to take pole position as the world's top superpower.

Beware the dragon
The”King of the East” is rising.
Iward, I used to avidly follow the Chi-com’s advancements in weaponized nano tech. Lots of fascinating and terrifying open source info out there.
And it is important to note that the Chinese people have no desire for such a conflict. They are making way too much money from their relationship with us, and unlike the old Soviet Union, Chinese public opinion actually does have far more influence on the leadership's actions than the opinions of a few hothead generals do. If China ever feels it is in danger of losing Tibet or Taiwan it would probably start a shooting war - but don't expect any surprise missile attacks on a US carrier battle group over the Spratlys, or in sympathy with Iran or North Korea. Beijing would let all of that go down the drain in a second rather than jeopardizing their cash flows. :)
They’ve been doing this since 1970 when they orbited their first satellite but with our power declining, this will become a serious threat. During the Olympics, when they showed the Chi-Com athletes, I turned to Mom and said, “there will come a day that we will end up fighting these people (we fought the Chi-Coms in Korea) again.” Sometimes I think it wasa mistake for Nixon to go to Red China, then again, I’m judging the geo-political world of 1972 by 2012 standards.
Red Dawn, indeed — appropriate. The Chinese are playing Chess and we are rolling dice. While they scheme and play for the long-haul, we base our decisions on quarterly statistics and mortgage our future for short-term gain. While we make mistake after mistake on the global scene, the Chinese are securing trading relationships and gaining market share at our our expense. We invade Afghanistan, they get the minerals contract. We topple Saddam, they get they get new oil contracts. We benignly neglect Latin America, they get control over the Panama Canal.
The proponents of “free-trade” said that by trading with the Chinese, the Chinese would become integrated with the world economic system and, over time, their political system would become more “democratic” and thus, reduce the risk of war. Their anticipated global integration has surpassed expectations, but instead of becoming just another player on the global stage, China is poised to become its dominant force. The only way to deal with the Chinese is from a position of strength. That is not going to happen as long as we owe them more than 1 Trillion dollars in debt and we maintain a several hundred billion dollar trade deficit. The Chinese are laughing at us all the way to the bank.
Back to the Red Dawn reference, the remake of that movie is due out later this year. Originally, the entire film was shot and scripted where the Chinese were the enemy. But, the Chinese government objected to this portrayal and Hollywood buckled. Hollywood has been scared into submission. So, the Chinese characters were airbrushed and the characters were dubbed/recast where the enemy is now North Korea. This is an absolutely ridiculous concept as the North Koreans have no way of ever invading us, but no matter, the Chinese are placated.
Unless, we drastically change things, this will be our future. The Chinese object and we placate. Welcome to our future, thanks to all the smart guys from Harvard and Yale who forgot where real power originates, self-sufficiency.
Wake me up when the 30 IQ ChiComm apes figure out how to anneal a bolt or make a socket with a closer tolerance than + or - one-quarter inch.
China is becoming a very dangerous threat.
The longer we wait, “buying” 49% of factories over there, the worse the result will be.
I am now for completely turning around, and bailing on China.
The leaders are making beaucoup bucks and a bunch of western countries are heavily invested in China. The party will be over if China starts going imperial.

Bingo! China may be chest thumping from time to time, and we may speak about borrowed China funds, but the red dragon would be zilch without the US/Walmart purchase of their products. We fund them and they know it.
Too bad, it should have been about a Muslim take over.
