Wondering why? I can’t fathom a reason unless their computer has taken over. (slight attempt at humor) Any ideas?

Because it's Sunday?

That is usually the case.. And yes, there is probably not a lot of staff working on a Sunday.

Doubt it. It IS the weekend, and the quakes really weren't that big.

These seem to be centered on the opposite end of the same fault that the ones a couple years back were centered on. I remember that one well, was my first earthquake since I moved to CA and it was an unforgettable experience for me.

I agree with you on that, the frequency and the number are very interesting.

If CA does suddenly become a seabed.......w/o all those democrat votes anymore, Obamer is toast. Romney sure to win.

Hate to say it CA Freepers, but I am praying for the big one. Thanks for taking a mag 9 and 300 foot tidal wave for the cause of liberty.

Get down to Cabellas and grab a bass boat on 6 mos same as cash...will be the best deal you ever made. You can tie it up in Ohio anytime.

My concern is that the northern quakes will trigger the southern region instability that produced the 7.2. So far everything looks quiet.

Volcanic ash helps cool the globe, right? (Pinatubo) So it would quell the global warmers for awhile, if we had a bit of a volcano going on.

Only bummer is if it falls on all that farmland in the Imperial Valley and destroys crops.

“However, the quake occurred at the very southern end of the San Andreas. Scientists are concerned that the entire stretch of the San Andreas will someday snap, causing a catastrophic quake.”

The Southern end of the San Andreas fault is way overdue for the “big one”.

I just counted them up....84 shakes in the last 5 hours.

Is that normal? Seems unbelievable.

My understanding is that with the geological conditions in the Imperial Valley, a temblor above 7.5 was not possible. We already may have had the “big one “ with our Easter Sunday 7.2.
