But go ahead and pretend they don’t exist or try telling the victims that their rape wasn’t really THAT stressful if you think doing so serves some purpose.

Obviously, it doesn't occur in all cases, or probably in a majority of cases, but it is not the out-of-the-blue idea that is being promulgated by the media, or people hyperventilating over his comments.

It is pretty “out of the blue” to propose that women have a mechanism to “shut the whole thing down” or that they “secrete a certain secretion” that kills sperm in the event of rape, or that “the juices don't flow” or that sexual “arousal” is necessary for pregnancy.

To propose that there might well be an elevated chance of miscarriage (the data suggests that 11% of pregnancies resulting from rape end in miscarriage) is not “out of the blue” - but that is NOT what was said or has been said on the subject.

Neither would an increase in miscarriage accomplish what the “shut the whole thing down gang” apparently need it to accomplish - the absence or near absence of pregnancy as a result of “legitimate” rape.
