Eerie similarites: Isaac follows track of Katrina, evacuations ordered for coast

Thousands in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama were being told early Monday to leave their Gulf Coast homes ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac as forecasters warned it was gaining strength as it followed the same path Hurricane Katrina took seven years earlier. The governors of the three states each declared a state of emergency, with Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley ordering mandatory evacuations to begin at 8 a.m. for residents who live along the coast and for those in some low-lying areas inland.

"I am urging everyone to take precautions now, monitor weather warnings, and be prepared for whatever Isaac may bring," Bentley said in a statement released Sunday. A hurricane warning was issued for the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, from Morgan City, Louisiana, east to Destin, Florida, the National Hurricane Center said. The tropical storm was expected to make landfall late Tuesday or Wednesday -- the anniversary of Katrina's landfall -- as a Category 1 hurricane, with winds of at least 74 mph.

Isaac's strength was holding steady early Monday as it moved at 14 mph through the warm Gulf waters, about 180 miles southwest of Fort Myers, Florida, forecasters said. The storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, according to a hurricane center advisory.

It appeared early Monday that the storm's ferocity would mostly bypass Florida's west coast and the Republican National Convention in Tampa, where the schedule was pushed back a day by organizers over concerns about the storm.

Isaac's eye is forecast to pass well west of Tampa.

After slamming into Haiti, where at least six people died in storm-related incidents Saturday, Isaac lashed Cuba and the Florida Keys.

There are so far some eerie similarities between Hurricane Katrina and Isaac, CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen said.

Eerie, my foot, it looks to me like Obama is steering Isaac on the same path as Katrina. I mean, if GWB could steer Katrina the way he obviously did, Obama is so good he can “Robin Hood” this one up the same path:^(

The biblical year (lunar, adjusted for seasons) is on average 365.25 days long, but the average is over a 19 year cycle (lunar). Using the Hillel II calendar (which corresponds to, and carries forward, known dates from First Century and earlier) makes for very interesting "7 year" observations! Because the dates each year can be as close as 354 days apart.

Although the Yovel (Jubilee) is unknown, just like the weekly Sabbath, Judaism has accurately tracked the Sh'mittah year (7th year of rest for the Land) for over 2,500 years. We got in trouble the last time we forgot to count those... We are currently half way through the Sh'mittah cycle.

The fact that Katrina was a larger and stronger storm is absolutely meaningless and irrelevant.

Issac is forecast to drop 15 inches of rain or so and if the eye makes landfall to the west of New Orleans for example, that means New Orleans would take a direct hit from the front right quadrant of the storm, something that did not occur in 2005.

That’s the worst part. They will get significant storm surge on top of the multiple inches of rainfall. The end result could be something very much similar to Katrina.

Don’t pay attention to he size and strength of these storms, pay attention to the amount of enclosed rain and where exactly the eye comes ashore.

Since Isaac won't rival it, they'll have to keep viewers attention with Katrina.

There actually is a chance (I'd say less than 50%, but still a chance) it will rival it in terms of the end result.

The difference for LA this time is they have a great governor who will LEAD in a crisis, instead of bawling like a baby (Kathleen Blanco) and blaming the feds.

And yet the MSM will go out of their way to proclaim Obama as the savior of New Orleans, and will totally ignore Jindal.

Isaac is following the path Katrina took as she approached the Gulf Coast. If the models hold, he'll mostly follow the path at landfall, with the eye hitting just west of Waveland, and just east of the MS/LA border.

Thankfully, Isaac is still a CAT 1, and unless he stalls and grows, doesn't have time to get much stronger, which means the storm surge won't be nearly as large as it was with Katrina.

This is the best of both worlds for the MSM.
They will totally ignore the Republican convention and “over-report” a cat 1 hurricane, 24/7.

If however, it grows stronger and decimates NOLA and it becomes another FEMA cluster, under Obama’s watch, well hey, there is a Republican convention to cover and all during their coverage of the convention they can blame problems with THIS hurricane on Bush failures during Katrina.

THey will constantly instersperse coverage of the hurricane with the Republican convention and REMIND viewers of the Katrina devastation and “Bush failures.”

And you know the MSM and the dems are dancing a happy dance right now, SO HAPPY that a hurricane is coming, probably praying it will be bad enough to
a- take away attention from Romney and the GOP convention
b- give Obama a crisis to make himself look like a leader
c- give Obama a chance to blow some more money on NOLA and run up the debt another trillion dollars
d- remind the viewers of Katrina and Bush
