EAST ST. LOUIS The event was called "Turn It In -- Turn It Around," and it was a chance for people with guns in their homes to turn them in and receive a $25 gift certificate to Schnucks grocery stores.
From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies stood by a safe storage truck, ready to collect any guns that were brought to the armory on 29th and State streets in East St. Louis. Eight guns, including a sawed-off shot gun, were collected.

Purely political theater designed to delegitimize armed citizens.
ESTL is in IL, not KS. KS is on the other side of the state.
The photograph at the site shows an old Savage/Stevens “gill rifle” .22, a bolt action shotgun, a pair of barrels for a double barrel shotgun, a bolt action .22 probably a Marlin, a sawed off shotgun that looks like it may be just legal (model 67 savage, I think), and one revolver, possibly a S&W .38 with a 5 or 6 inch barrel, in rather rough shape. Two more handguns were reported turned in. I cannot see them in the photo.
Hardly worth going to. $25 is not enough to get people to turn in their valuable guns.
You are correct. Thanks.
Much like paying inner city kids to go to school. Liberal child like mentality in an adult world.
A tornado passed through E. St. Louis a few weeks ago. Did $87 million worth of improvements.
Here’s a local television report on the story:

The video shows the revolver; it does look rough, as you say. Also briefly shown is what I’m guessing is a .25 semiauto with a broken grip and tons of rust.
Talk about junk...I feel so much safer knowing these dangerous weapons are “off the street”!
Talk about junk...I feel so much safer knowing these dangerous weapons are off the street!...
“Dangerous weapons” indeed! With all that rust and non-care, those weapons might indeed be dangerous, dangerous to the shooter, not the shootee!>
The Lemmings disarmed themselves; the Wolves kept their fangs.
Thanks for the added information. Always nice to have another pair of eyes looking.
We have accounted for seven of the eight guns.. The .22 bolt gun is most likely a mossberg 346, also branded as a Westerfield 842B. It is worth about a $100. The Savage is probably worth about $75. None of the guns is worth much, which is what you would expect for a turn in in a very poor area when they are only offering $25 gift cards.
