I hope some enterprising student starts a counter-petition, petitioning the university to keep Chick-Fil-A on campus.

And how many sales do they make in 1 day? I’m guessing at 1600.

There was a running back that signed with Auburn over Clemson because Clemson did not have a Chick-Fil-A.

Is this not proof positive of the constitutional illiteracy brought on by the failure of our schools to teach the ideas of liberty?

How can future generations enjoy the freedoms generations have fought and died for, if they have no concept of the meaning of the Bill of Rights' protections for freedom of speech and freedom of religion and free exercise?

Just hope there are enough citizens out there who understand what's at stake in 2012.

We have the same choice which faced the colonists in 1776:

Liberty for ourselves and future generations

Or,

Slavery to coercive government power

This is the choice.

So-called "progressives" may frame the debate differently, they may use clever semantics to disguise and cloak the kind of "change" they advocate, and some may even fool themselves into believing that what they advocate is right.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C. S. Lewis

In the end, however, their philosophy relies on coercive power by some imperfect human beings over other likewise imperfect beings.

The ideas of 1776 and 1787 were based on another powerful idea.

“The same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe, the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.”- (John F. Kennedy - 1961 Inaugural)

"Ideas have consequences." - Weaver

One idea led to freedom, opportunity, productivity and plenty for more people than ever had been experienced in the history of civilization. That idea relied upon a Creator-people-government arrangement.

The "other" idea has failed in every society in which it has been implemented, because it relies on a government-over-people arrangement.

"Tyranny is a poor provider. It knows neither how to accumulate, nor how to extract." -Edmund Burke

That leaves 36,250 enrolled students who did not sign the petition.

The 850 can go screw themselves... oops, they already are.

As an alternative, they could just stay away from Chick-fil-a and leave everybody else alone.

“850 sign petition to remove Chick-fil-A from University of Maryland”

The University of Maryland has almost 38,000 students. Even assuming these signatures are legitimate(they probably are not) this is a very small group. You could get 850 college students to sign almost anything.

We wouldn't have this problem if we OBEYED God.

Those who support homosexuals are against our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.
These anti Christ people only bring destruction on us ALL.
I have NO sympathy for homosexuals!

Homosexuality is a "Mark" of disobedience.

Someone once asked The answer is in the definition of "REPROBATE". And the reason"why" is given in the Bible.

God has a cure for homosexuals.

Typical Leftist Brownshirts. They can’t organize a boycott to get people to simply not eat there, so they petition to get it kicked off campus.

Bottom line: if its popular, it should remain. If people hate its political positions and stop eating there, it will go away.

According to the UM website, Fall 2011 undergraduate enrollment at the College Park campus was 26,826 students.

If a similar number is assumed for Fall 2012, then the 850 bigots who signed this petition represent slightly more than 3% of the undergraduate student body.

And I’m willing to bet that not all of those 850 signatories are UM students.

850 sign petition to remove Chick-fil-A from University of Maryland

There is a very good reason why democrats target college and high-school students as one of their primary constituencies. They're young, dumb, idealistic. They haven't matured yet, and democrats need to target them at a young age, when they're still very pliable and unthinking and don't have the time and patience to follow through on the consequences of their decisions. They don't have the years of wisdom that it takes to make informed and intelligent decisions. Thus, they're the ideal constituency for the democrats.

If you want someplace to go away, DON’T SHOP THERE. Then wait.

But liberals don’t operate that way... It is their viewpoint, only, which counts, and ‘compromise’ means giving them only most of what they want.
