I see my best friend is the Texas lady leading the charge to prevent that new rule from being adopted. She is special.

I don’t think Texas will back down. Texans are pissed and fighting for their survival to not become another Kalifornia or Arizona. We just slam dunked another RHINO troll when Dewdrop and his millions were sent packing.

I hope they stay pissed and full of vinegar.

Ben Ginsberg, just another pettifogging lawyer. Needs to go.

I think the same of all lawyers, including Cruz, until they prove otherwise and then I still don’t trust them or turn my back on them.

Sounds like this has squashed any last ditch hopes of a brokered convention. Part of the “compromise” was that any delegate who did not vote for Mittens would be considered to have resigned his position. I do not know if this means they are not allowed to abstain though.

Like I said above, because of rule 12, this is NOT OVER. Michelle Malkin has updated her blog and is calling for the delegates to NOT BACK DOWN AND NOT SETTLE FOR THE DEAL.

http://michellemalkin.com/

Update: 10:53pm Eastern…So here’s the upshot. As you read above in Drew’s summary, grass-roots activists revolted over Rule 15 (the delegate selection provision to be renumbered Rule 16) and Rule 12 (the power grab that would allow the RNC to make executive convention rule changes and rewrite the rules between conventions without any input/consultation with grass-roots, delegates, or state leadership on hand).

A source tells me the situation on the ground and in delegate meetings right now is “tense” and “dynamic.”

As long as the proposed Rule 12 remains in place, this “deal” or “compromise” should be a no-go. Don’t back down, activists!

The Rule Change is still NO good. It still takes away the power of a delegate to nominate or vote for the best candidate. It says that if a delegate votes for anyone who the state party rules (as determined by an unstated entity), then they shall be removed as a delegate, and there vote will be counted as a vote for the person they voted against anyway. Not very democratic. This basically allows state party bosses to choose the delegates when it should be the grass roots republicans deciding this. Here is the text of the proposed "improvement":

Rule 16(a)(2). For any manner of binding or allocating delegates under these Rules, if a delegate

(i) casts a vote for a presidential candidate at the National Convention inconsistent with the delegate’s obligation under state law or state party rule,

(ii) nominates or demonstrates support under Rule 40 for a presidential candidate other than the one to whom the delegate is bound or allocated under state law or state party rule, or (iii) fails in some other way to carry out the delegate’s affirmative duty under state law or state party rule to cast a vote at the National Convention for a particular presidential candidate, the delegate shall be deemed to have concurrently resigned as a delegate and the delegate’s improper vote or nomination shall be null and void. Thereafter the Secretary of the Convention shall record the delegate’s vote or nomination in accordance with the delegate’s obligation under state law or state party rule. This subsection does not apply to delegates who are bound to a candidate who has withdrawn his or her candidacy, suspended or terminated his or her campaign, or publicly released his or her delegates.

See my post 21. She (with my encouragement) will save you from Romney trying to take over the party. He wants this for his next run, so he can pick the delegates. He is shrewd and evil.

What total paranoid overkill. What incumbent President has to worry about an attack from his own party?

Unless he knows what he as planned will appall his own party.

He wants this for his next run, so he can pick the delegates

Without her help, I couldn’t have had my two cataract surgeries. If she is your friend, she is your friend all the way and forever. The most loyal person I ever knew.

Oh, yes, and when my house flooded a few weeks ago, it was her family who helped me.

She is like that with all her friends.

Not so. It takes six states to get a roll call vote, and that’s with hoping the Minority Report is accepted. Conservatives are scrambling now to even inform all the grassroots delegates of what was crammed down on the quiet. It is done already and calls now for ammendments to Rule 12 and 15. Cspan will be covering a floor fight tomorrow when the Rules are presented to convention delegates.

I am freaking out! Ben Ginsberg belongs to Romney. This comes from Romney. This is the task of a tyrant to seal his future and eliminate opposition to the obvious, his sorry record, Massachusetts redux to be implemented.

This can’t stand, and makes one wonder if Romney even WANTS to be elected while he burns his own voters to ashes! Has he been threatened, or is this Marxist manipulation for real?

Obvious many unhappy with primary results expect a childish do-over and/or power-sharing -

Losers demanding “a piece of da action” or else -

I have already arranged to trigger my positions so that I shall profit well either way in November - and through January with the likely land mines if the left loses -

As for my personal wish - it is that those “useful idiots” of Obama on FR and elsewhere are crushed by Obama if he wins -

I just received a statement today that shows my strategy has worked wonderfully again this last month and I have fine-tuned it and added even more aggression to it now -

All the Paulistas, liberterian druggies, and 3rd party fools can and will dream the impossible dreams of a Fairy Princess, Pope, or bloated “big idea” has-been with serial zipper control problemos that will forfill their fondest dreams and waste their remaining days and futures -

So go vote for Obama and get over yourselves - keep on taking a leak upstream -

I shall just keep it simple and concentrate on counting cards and reading the tea leaves.....

“still takes away the power of a delegate to nominate or vote for the best candidate. It says that if a delegate votes for anyone who the state party rules (as determined by an unstated entity), then they shall be removed as a delegate..”

primary winners have their delegates bound, ie, required to vote for the candidate based on who won the primary. The rule to allow candidates to remove delegates was overkill, but the problem being addressed was the RonPaul-ite problem of delegates stiffing the winner of the primary and refusing to do what is required by the rules. Removing a delegate who does not do what party rules REQUIRE of them seems a sensible solution to this problem.

“Not very democratic.” By forcing respect for results of primaries, it is actually more democratic than having an activist minority ‘take over’ delegate slates and then stiffing primary winners and refusing to abide by party rules regarding who they are to support in nomination.

Update: 11:53pm Eastern Sarah Palin weighs in while campaigning on the road in Arizona.

From her Facebook page:

We have to remember that this election is not just about replacing the party in power. It’s about who and what we replace it with. Grassroots conservatives know this. Without the energy and wisdom of the grassroots, the GOP would not have had the historic 2010 electoral victories. That’s why the controversial rule change being debated at the RNC convention right now is so very disappointing. It’s a direct attack on grassroots activists by the GOP establishment, and it must be rejected.
