The United States' giant leap for mankind: Armstrong and American Exceptionalism
The Fiscal Times ^ | 8/27/2012 | Craig Shirley

In light of Armstrong’s passing, Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) has called on President Obama to honor the former astronaut with a state funeral, saying, “His one small step on the moon was indeed a giant leap for mankind, and it exemplified what we mean by American exceptionalism.” Johnson added that Armstrong “showed the world Americans can do anything.”

I feel that way, too. But some people in this country right now, people like Barack Obama and other political elites, question the notion of American exceptionalism. They question the exceptionality of a country that has saved the world, fed the world, led the world and inspired the world.

When Neil Armstrong is buried on Friday a full moon will be shining down on the United States with a subtle reminder to wake up and remember what we once were. Neil Armstrong defined American Exceptionalism and his passing is a good time to reflect on what that means and why it is important.

*When Neil Armstrong is buried on Friday a full moon will be shining down *

And this moon will be expectional. It will be a Blue Moon - http://www.christianpost.com/news/blue-moon-august-31-2012-last-one-for-3-years-80698/

which will not happen again for another 3 years.

What a pity that the entitlement state and playing world policeman have utterly broken us. Whoever the first man on Mars it is, he almost certainly will not be an American.

He has touched the stars once again
a loving gift from God,
thru comet tails and galaxies
past the lunar dust he trod.

The traveler sailed thru the milk white veil
to the place where angels tread,
he sought the Throne of the King of Kings
where the book of life is read,

He stood in silence for the voice
of the mighty King on High,
praying to hear his name be said
as promised when we die.

The Lord looked down at this space traveler
as He lead him thru the Golden Door,
He said “Welcome Neil to your heavenly home”
the stars are yours forever more.

God bless you Mr. Armstrong.

The RNC should step into the void and hold a tribute to a national hero that showed millions the vista of an open universe thanks to the courage of a few great men. Several gave all in the race to whip the Ruskies.

These men took us from fear of Sputnik to pride in NASA and the USA - we were the undisputed leaders of the pack until we elected the boy from Kenya.

I don’t know about the world policeman bit. This year’s budget along is much more than we have spent on the wars in Southwest Asia. Indeed, our role in world affairs has been shrinking for some time, as evidenced by the great shrinkage of the US Navy since the end of the Cold War. That is a better measure of our international engagement.

YES! This is a reflection of the Republican party and what it represents, and they should showcase that. Obama and the DNC should be afraid of Armstrong for the superior America he represents and by comparison, the abysmal failure they represent.

And here is Obama gloating over what they did to NASA:

The Arabs rubbing their hands.

This country is a mere faint shadow of what it was when Armstrong set foot on the moon. Imagine if we attempted something like that today... the political posturing by pressure groups as to who (woman, homosexual, black, hispanic) actually steps off the lunar module to claim the fame. It would be comical.
